Canada, Eh? Q1/33

Nothing earth shattering, and I couldn't work myself up into typing 'articles', so here's what it is.

Work continues on the death defying, commentator capitvating, incredible Canadian Flying Contraption at St. Hubert.

More experiments with the ShinRa-Berliner Gyrodyne, including further experiments with operating it from RCN and RCMP ships.

More explosions at Canadian Vickers, and smaller incidents reported at smaller contractors, such as ShinRa Munitions Company.

the RCN is being reorganized to reflect the changing force structure. The current force structure (pending completion of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and the aquitions of the Argylls) is listed
Here, in the encyclopedia.

Alongside the force restructuring is a new recruiting campaign for the RCN, as well as other branches. The RCN has concerns about having sufficient personell to crew the recently aquired Argyll CLs, as well as the new Battleships building. They are confident they will be at requirements well in time for the Canada and Excelsior's comissioning, but to meet the more immediate needs of the new Manitoba and Argyll classes, the Diana class crews are being temporarily reduced to provide core crews for the Manitoba class ships. Also, Chester and Birkenhead are being relegated to a Training squadron (but without any of the drastic modifications that would have been required by the Cleito treaty), with much of the more experienced crew members being repurposed to crews the Argyll class ships. It should be noted, however, that if an attractive enough offer is made, Chester and Birkenhead are still on the market.

HMCS Scott is in preparations to be transferred to the RAN. While the exact date of the transfer is not known, it is not expected to be completed until sometime this summer. Regardless, with the aforementioned personell shortage, most of her crew has been reassigned, leaving a skeleton crew mostly performing maintaince.

The recently RCMP aquired and converted Arctic freighters continue to spend long periods of time 'on assignment' in the Frozen North. RCFA Alison Lockhart and RCFA Crystal Veaumont have also been reported to be dispatched north in company of RCMP Icebreakers with specially designed dredging equipment. While this is the first time such events have been reported on, it is suspected that these activites have been ongoing for some time.

There is a request in Parliment from the RCMP for at least one, possibly more large purpose-built Arctic 'support' ships. However, these requests are competing with the general buildup of the Canadian Defense forces, and not making much headway at this time.

For some political filler, there have been some rumbles over the feathers ruffled in the fallout of Cowes, with some of the minority parties vocally objecting to the now relatively massive naval buildup underway, but the overall reactions in the Parliment, as well as throughout Canada is relatively positive.
