Notes:
The Hankow was delivered to Sino Shipping Co. in July 1878. She was employed initially on the Middle Yangtze River, but proved suitable for use on the Canton River, and in 1886, was placed on S.S. Co.’s daily overnight Hong Kong-Canton passenger service. The Pekin was delivered also in July 1878 and placed in service on the lower reaches of the Yangtse river.
This class of vessels employed on the lower Yangtse were of shallow draught, flat bottomed with no keel, were equipped with twin large spade rudders to assist in manoevering. The ships were also employed on the Shanghai - Ningpo service, departing Shanghai on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and returning from Ningpo on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Cargo was man-handled through side hatches.

Notes:
Fatshan was purpose-built to operate a fast overnight ferry service between Canton and Hong Kong. She was jointly owned by Sino Shipping Co. (37.5%) and the Hongkong, Canton & Macao Steamboat Co. (62.5%) until 1906, when she passed entirely into S.S. Co. hands. Fatshan comprised first, second and third class cabins as well as steerage accommodation and unberthed passenger space. In December 1933, Fatshan was sold to breakers, having been replaced after 45 years' service, by her namesake, Fatshan II.

The Wusueh-Class surprises with its exceptional design, so the cargo hold (with crane) was placed behind the bridge and steerage passenger compartment and in front of the Saloon and First Class. The saloon was designed with attention to detail and incorporating quality fittings, which applies also for the other parts of the ship.
