Dragon River Shipyard Ltd.
The company goes back to three shipbuilding companies. These were on the one hand, the 1896 founded Zhongyan shipyard, secondly, the Miluo shipyard, which was founded in 1900 and the third, the the repair company of the Nanjing shipping company. In 1928 the three yards amalgamated to the "Dragon River Shipyard Ltd." to undertake the construction (and repair) of iron and steel-hulled vessels for river shipping on the Yangtze river. Over the years, the company grew slowly but steadily. In 1930 there were about 500 workers. Today, the company deals with repairs, conversions and the construction of inland waterway crafts of all kinds.

Tako Dockyard and Engineering Co.
In 1863, the brothers Wan Yong and Zhu Yong together with shipbuilder Ruan Chengfa founded the Tako Dockyard and Engineering Company in Weihaiwei. The brothers received their vocational training as ship carpenter and shipbuilder at the Bohai Shipbuilding in Tjianjin. After starting their business, they initially carried out repairs on fishing boats and other small vessels. With the construction of fishing boats, yachts and dinghies, the company expanded more and more over the next years. In 1923, a branch was established in Yantai. The firm came to specialise in Cargo ships, small coastal steamers, tugboats, pilot boats and fishing trawlers. Today the Company employes nearly thousand fivehundred workers.

Liaoning Shipbuilding Co.

Liaoning Shipbuilding Co.
The company was founded on March 1, 1867 by Wang Yapin as a small locksmith in Dalian. On July 1, 1877, the brother of the founder, clothier Lu Yapin, joined the company as a partner. The shipyard now trading as Yapin Brother's Company was mainly concerned with the construction of inland vessels for local industry, but also with the construction of small seagoing vessels. The yard also carried out extensive repairs on sampans and inland waterway vessels. The company employed nearly 500 people at the start of the Great War, making it one of the larger shipbuilding companies in the region. If the main business is also on smaller and inland vessels, a number of shorelighters will be built as well. The shipyard currently employs almost a thousand people.

The first plans for a repair yard for the Yangtze construction management in Ningpo date back to 1903. In 1912, the excavation of the dockyard of the shipyard began, and in 1922, the "Jong Shy Dock & Engineering Company" began operations. At first, they specialized in the construction of river passenger ships for the Yangtze River, but they quickly expanded the business to ocean going vessels, which would then become an increasingly important production field for the shipyard.

Lungteh Shipbuilding & Engineering
In 1844 the company was founded as Lungteh Brothers & Sons, an iron foundry and machine factory. The main product lines were steam engines and brick presses. In 1866, the Lungteh brothers expanded their business by founding a shipyard on the Dongting Lake, where ship repairs were carried out. In 1891, the first self-built paddle steamer left the shipyard. Over the next years, the construction of inland and seagoing ships was added.

Nantong Tug & Lighter Company

The shipyard was founded in 1919 as "Nantong Tug & Lighter Company" by Yi Tso-Lin and was, at this time, one of the most modern shipyards on the Yangtze River. Freight, passenger and recovery vessels as well as tugs, ferries and barges were built. As largest ship ran 1933 the "Fatshan" (600 passengers, 2640 GRT) from the slips. In order to carry out further orders, the shipyard was enlarged in 1937 by a large floating dock. The shipyard had a little more than 1,200 employees in 1940 and was known for its tugs and coasters. In addition, she carries out repairs of seagoing vessels.

Yingkou Shipbuilding Co.
The Yingkou Shipbuilding was founded in 1912 as Yingkou Machinery and Shipbuilding Limited Company. The shipyard was from the beginning focused on industrial machine and steel shipbuilding. In the 1920s, the company ran into financial difficulties, whereupon Ocean Fishing took over a large part of the shares. As a result of the associated order security, since Yingkou served from then on as a repair shipyard of the fishing fleet of Ocean Fishing, the shipyard grew again and became one of the larger employers in the region.

Shanghai Engineering and Shipbuilding Corporation

Shanghai Engineering and Shipbuilding Corporation
The company was founded in 1880 as a boiler smithy "Xu Lei & Zhong Man". After a change of the partners and with the conversion to a corporation starting from 1890 the company grew steadily. 1907 the company was renamed to "Shanghai Ironworks Corporation". The production in the machine factory and foundry included transmissions, steam engines, steam boilers and pumps. Until 1920, other metal companies were taken over in Shanghai. In 1922, the company acquired an area to build a shipyard. Inland waterway vessels and small seagoing vessels were built there, resulting in a good cooperation with the other plants of the company. In this course, the renaming into "Shanghai Engineering and Shipbuilding Corporation (SESC)" takes place. The construction program currently consists mainly of fishing vessels, small passenger ships, inland water vessels of all kinds and coasters.

Chung Wah Shipbuilding Works
Chung Wah set up Chung Wah Welding and Steel Works at Ap Liu Street in Tainan in 1927 . In 1931, he purchased with his partners a land and established a shipyard. Two years later he bought the partner’s share and combined the shipyard with a welding works to form the Chung Wah Shipbuilding Group and Chung Wah Construction & Structural Engineering Company. Chung Wah Shipbuilding has now 450 employees and is focused on mercantile construction of any sort.
