Looks pretty good to me...

I guess I'll have to expidite the picture and see if it matches the SS file discription.

She ruled the waves, in her time

There's not another pre-WWI BB I'd send against her. Good job!

This is 1913. This ship is 34,000t.

QE or R-class ships from the same time (or later) were 28,500t.

She is far too big. and 4" deck armour???

I think this ship is clearly inspired in the american standards, the New Mexico (32000t), Pennsilvania (31400t), Tennesse (32300t) and Nevada classes (27500t), and 34000t and 4in deck armor was not out of place for a ship like these.

These BBs were usually bigger and more armoured than their european counterparts, so I´d say she´s big, but not out of place in 1913.

Good answer. She´s still on the edge but nothing to tip things off balance....

The USN ships were big because they needed the range to cross the pacific. Atlantis doesn't need anywhere near this range to get to the carribean or africa. She is also faster than the battleline speed of 20-21knts for no particular reason.

Plus she has excellent seakeeping and extra hull strength. it should be fairly easy to trim her down quite a lot.

Shes half a knot faster than the rest of the Atlantian battle line, and your right she could be trimed down, but I'm going by past springsharp data, to which there was no complaint about her size. I'm not about to resize ships already designed lest I get complaints.

Atlantis dosn't have the Panama canal restrictions nor does it have quad 15" turrets in 1921.

Gravina is correct in his comparisen to the standards, given the numerical superiority of both the UK and U.S. battle fleets, the design would have to be more robust to compinsate for the lack of numbers.

Rather American with triples early. Save that none are superfiring....so more Russian in a way?

Not a bad thing, but it limits your fire arcs.

Kind of a step back...

305mm guns in 1913? With a 14" belt? Makes her a bit under-gunned.

And a hull strength of over 1.4 is just begging for more guns. If you're determined on 305mm guns, maybe you could one-up on Agincourt by adding another triple turret.

The 1.6 seakeeping represents hull structure tonnage that might be better used for guns. Make her shorter and beamier, and see if that gives you even more hull strength to play with.

15

Wednesday, November 10th 2004, 6:14pm

Why 12x12" guns, when your previous designs had 12x14" guns?

Just try and bung 12x14" onto a 30,000t hull and see what you get.

16

Wednesday, November 10th 2004, 7:46pm

Sigh.... see what happens when your in a hurry?

Once again with the 12x14" guns....that I somehow missed.

Ah yes, the SS 2.0 learning curve. Took a little bit to figure that one out myself...considering I'd not been using the older one for more than a few weeks.

Looks very American.

Picture wise she also looks very American, with a bit of British styling too.

There are 4 mounts total, with 2 raised, SS2 dosn;t quite correctly state that.
