In the halls of the Reichstag, the announcement from Moscow causes no real surprise. While there had been no ahead of time warning that Russia intended to do this, that they had done so was not unexpected. As relations with Russia were quite good, the announcement was not a cause for concern.

The next day's announcement from Paris was, given the preceding day's announcement from Moscow, also not a surprise. While relations between the Reich and the Republic were not as good as the relations between Germany and Russia, they were not so bad that there was any concern that the announcement was pointed at the Reich.
