Bulgarian Destroyer Neustrashimi

This class is designed, basically, as the sole new addition for the Bulgarian Royal Navy in 1944. It's designed to be a replacement for the Drazki class destroyers, but draws very heavily from Bulgaria's favorite Kyustendil class ships. Basically, Atlantean 130mm DP guns, Russian 65cm torpedoes, French 57mm AA guns, Swiss 20mm machine guns, German fire-control equipment, British steam turbines... yay internationalism!

That is one impressive looking destroyer.
The performance and seakeeping are certainly impressive too, not to mention the firepower. It's good to see what an 'international' ship like this can achieve.

I do love the look of the Tashkent-style streamlined bridge. It's one of those design elements that I've nabbed for all of the Bulgarian-built destroyers, and it just looks right...

While impressive overall I wonder if her gun layout could be improved. A single bomb aft will cost her all her 57mm guns most likely - if her large magazins at that spot do not explode. Might leave her valnurable to other attacks.

Why don't you put her torps on weather deck level? Raising them just adds topweight.

Hmm, you may have a point with the guns. How's this look?

Hmmm.... The ships beam is 12,5m, right? It might be difficult to have a boat abreast that second funnel and light gun installations. A deck plan?

Will the midship installation of those 57mm guns as on the last picture negatively influence arcs of the aft TT mount?

I think so. You could move the aft superstructure forward, probably even between those 57mm, and place the second set of TTs where the deck house had been.

Check again, made a few more changes to lower the torpedo tubes. Didn't go all the way down to the weather deck, though.

Much better, methinks. :o)

Methinks I agree. The original drawing was a modest reworking of the Kyustendil-class, with just a few small changes. I think this gives it a bit more of it's own appearance...

Edit: Made camo version on a whim.
