Summary
The light cruisers Danube and Maritsa are completed in early January 1937, and begin their builders trials. The river monitors Krum and Boris also are completed and start their builders trials. Three riverine patrol boats, the Stefan Stambolov, Johan Ehrnrooth, and Konstantin Stoilov, are also completed, bringing the total to five vessels.

In January, Bulgaria starts work on the next phase of construction, laying down the destroyers Hrabri (Valiant), Strogi (Rigid), and Bureni (Stormy). These three destroyers, together with Drazki (Intrepid) will form the First Destroyer Division upon their November 1937 completion. Three more monitors, Omertag, Kubrat, and Knyaz Alexander are laid down.

Eight twelve-ton river gunboats/torpedo boats have also been constructed. These 55-foot 3-man boats carry a single Oerlikon 20mm gun and two 18" torpedoes in stern slips. Alternately, the torpedoes can be removed and a plate fastened in place permitting the mounting of a Brandt mle 27/31 81mm mortar and three additional crewmen. Two 50kg depth small charges can also be strapped to the side of the cockpit. For additional firepower, submachine guns, rifles, and pistols may be carried.
