[Edit: I'll use this thread to post all information about Japan so i renamed it.]
[Edit2: The prices of ships will soon change. Originally I used 115 yen for a dollar. After I bought Jane's Fighting ships of WWI, I saw that 1 Yen was about equal to $ 0.50. I changed that to $ 0.87 (1.15 yen for a dollar). However, I noticed that in the AWNR I used the old rate, and somehow it looks much nicer that way, so I'll soon change the yen rate back to 115 yen for a dollar]
[Edit3: all estimated costs have been adjusted to 115 yen for a dollar]

Japan's Infrastructure

The ports are spread out across the four main islands of Japan (Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku, Hokkaido). This is done to limit the damage to Japan's shipbuilding capability should an earthquake hit the area.

Firing Ranges:
Yagishiri-To (153 km North of Sapporo, Hokkaido)
Ko-Jima (90 km SW of Hakodate, Hokkaido)
Kammuri-Jima (78 km N-NW of Kyoto, Honshu)
Hateruma-Shima (460 km W-SW of Naha, Okinawa)
Nishino-Shima (947 km S-SE of Edo, Honshu)

I added the firing ranges so that I have locations where the ships can go to to practice gunnery.
Yagishiri-To is the best known firing range of Japan. People often visit nearby Teuri-To, less than five kilometers from Yagishiri-To, in order to catch a glimpse of the shooting.

i'm surprized

With the 15" gun limit in the treaty i'm surprized you didn't go with the historical nagato's, but with 15" guns instead of 16".

If you must blame someone, blame HoOmAn.
The 4x3 14" plan was his suggestion. So I had the option of 8 15" guns in four twin turrets or 12 14" guns in four triple turrets. (Took me less than a second to make that decision: I prefer a 4x3 over any other design and I do not know why).
Looking at how things are now, I wished I was allowed to keep those 16" guns...
(won't tell why)

well king you make a nice target >:) . Anyhow I wished we could have larger guns as well but the treaty is what it is supposed to be. Now i have to start to come up with my design for battleship for my italian navy. I plan on scrapping some ships plus i get to build two new battleships.

well when you think about it
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unless i'm mistaken 4 triple 14" will have a larger broadside weight than 8 twin 15" turrets so perhaps your decision was a good one.

Re: well when you think about it
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've used springstyle to see if that was true...

... and you were right. The difference is about 3,000 lbs. Also four triple 14" have about the same broadside weight as four twin 16".

*blows dust of ancient thread*

*Cough, cough*

Since Wes thought we should at least declare the population of our nations, I thought I would try to find that of Japan and I did.
The data is based on "Japan Prefectures Population from 1920 and Area " at Demographia.com. Using the older prefectures of Japan in combination with the modern Prefectures, I used the populations of a later decennia due to a larger increase in population growth since the Meiji Restauration, but have made only a few minor calculations in regard of the area of these older prefectures because there are a great many prefectures...
... and believe me: recalculation all the areas of the modern prefectures to the older prefectures and their subdivisions requires a lot of work, especially since almost all of the borders of the old prefectures don't match with those of the modern prefectures. It's not as simple as x sq.miles + y sq.miles = z sq.miles or a sq.miles - b sq.miles = c sq.miles. Maybe one day I'll put up all the areas of the prefectures...
... maybe.

The error:
I made one small error while working on the prefecture map: I forgot Awaji, and I had all the numbers up to Kagoshima put on the map. Rather that messing around removing all those numbers and readjusting all other data, I just put this island in the list as district 43.

*Cough, cough* more dust.

A few other details on Japan:

Most info on the Japanese Imperial Family comes from:
http://www.polbox.com/f/felixpp/japan2.htm.

... while the first part of the Tokugawa data (not sure if its correct, but it was the only stuff I could find comes from:
http://www.kikutv.com/shows/tokugawa_yos…hinobu_syn.html

Data marked ‘*’ => My own stuff.
Data marked ‘#’ => Slightly altered for the Wesworld.
Data marked with ‘@’ => Dates not known (was marked "†in childhood" so entered a logical year for them).

(curious if it comes out the way I want it to)
(edit: yes it does)

The italic Nakamura stuff means that it is also mentioned above in either the Imperial or Tokugawa line.
The single date on the far right indicates the year the couple married.
