Only if you're removing the barbettes, iirc. You could retain the barbette structures and install something else within the cylinders, and the flight deck over them; Shinano had bomb hoists installed in her barbettes.

Um! Doing this will save at least 3000 tons and the increase in speed and range is almost nothing with new engines. Will play with it to see how it looks.

You would, however, need to include the weight of the armoured barbettes in the sim somehow, probably as miscellaneous weight.

The 25 tons could be included in the misc. stuff mentioned in the report. Save some money for other projects. Thanks for the recommendation.

I would clarify the report from the 155mm being "eliminated" to "Guns removed, Barbettes retained". And specify if there's anything being housed in that space, of if it's a vacant area now.

And while the flight deck can be extended over them, hangar space (obviously) cannot be expanded aft.

The gun boats look nice although I would have used a smaller main gun caliber probably. It´s pretty heavy. Do you have something in the 120mm range or 80mm twins instead? Might allow you to increase shell number per gun also as 150 is pretty low for such a vessel.

I got planned another run of eight ships with a 115mm main gun instead for later. The current ships filling the gunboat niche were bulit between 1925 and 1927. Is cheaper to built new to replace and maintain numbers.

I'm going through the Filipino encyclopedia to see which ships need replacement or refits.

How exactly do you fit a 340 mm turret in a barbette designed for a 320 mm turret? Seems like that would be too difficult, unless the guns were being rebored.
