French Aircraft

Although I'm still sorting through a number of French aircraft at the moment deciding what to build and what not to build, I decided to go ahead and post these here (as I'm already confident they will enter production).

Dates are not yet set, but the Languedoc probably enters production sometime in 1938, while the Colmar probably enters production in 1940 or 1941.

Breguet Br.500 Colmar
General characteristics
Capacity: 23
Length: 19.95 m (65 ft 5 in)
Wingspan: 24.10 m (79 ft 1 in)
Height: 4.80 m (15 ft 9 in)
Wing area: 66.70 m2 (718.0 sq ft)
Max takeoff weight: 14,380 kg (31,702 lb)
Powerplant: 2 × Gnome-Rhône 15R.5 radial piston engine, 1,200 kW (1,600 hp) each

Performance
Maximum speed 460 km/h (285.8 mph)
Cruising speed: 400 km/h (250 mph; 220 kn) approx
Range: 2,000 km (1,243 mi; 1,080 nmi)
Service ceiling: 12,000 m (39,370 ft)

Notes
The Colmar has a pressurized cabin for high-altitude cruising. The cabin is partially divided, with six passengers in the forward cabin and seventeen passengers in the rearward cabin.

Bloch MB.161 Languedoc
General characteristics
Crew: 5

Powerplant: 4 × Gnome-Rhône 14N 44/45 radial engines, 1150 kW (858 hp) each

Performance
Maximum speed: 440 km/h (274 mph)
Range: 3200 km (1989 miles)
Service ceiling: 7200 m (23616 ft)

Notes
An airliner version of the Bloch MB.160 four-engine bomber. The Languedoc has a few faults which will be addressed with an upgraded variant sometime in the future.

Just doodling and came up with this.

"Although the Arsenal VB.10 introduced the tandem twin-engine and contra-rotating prop, popular opinion seems to be that it's a dog for air combat and probably a beast to maintain. So Arsenal went back to the drawing board to make a single-engined version..."

- VB.201 is just a VB.10 with a reworked single-engine layout.
- VB.202 has the radiator moved forward onto the nose, and is shortened and tightened up. The wing is also moved forward.
- VB.203 has a smaller nose radiator and slimmer belly lines aft of the wing.
- VB.204 returns to the belly radiator, which I don't like.

Edited to add: this is just a doodle at present, but there's a possibility I might make it. Don't know yet.

As I understand it the 710 Km/h was achieved during test flights without armament and armor

I believe that's correct, which is why I noted the production version would likely be slower. I'm kinda undecided about whether or not I'll spend much time building the MB.157, though; it's not one of my favorites. (I like the VG.39, but the VG.39 seems to be at the upper end of that type's development line.)

I like both the MB-157 and the VG.39 and lets not forget the D.520Z and D.551

Ripon would however so hopefully Bloch is still working on the design.
