The Peruvian Army

As of October 31, 1931, the Peruvian Army is recruited from 5 military districts, each responsible for raising 1 or 2 infantry regiments, 1 artillery regiment, 1 or 2 cavalry regiments, plus supporting arms.

Strength as of December 31, 1931 (after the creation of 2 new military districts):

With the decision made in the early part of 1934 to retire the cavalry regiments from the planned infantry division it was finally decided to use the Naval Infantry as a model for the new organization of the major infantry units. Following the German designed model; it was approved and ordered to be organized that way on August 1934. It was decided to reduce the original divisions to brigade size units with the cavalry units being designated to other missions.

4 anti-aircraft battalion (one serving with Naval Infantry)

1 armored regiment (still being rebuild after material losses suffered during Andean War.)

Additionally, the paramilitary civil guard field the following forces:
11 cavalry regiments
1 infantry regiment of four battalions (twice the size of the standard infantry regiment)
1 independent battalion
1 machine gun battalion


(The units forming will finish their training and them most likely demobilized, to be kept as a first line reserve. The post-war Peruvian Army will be reduced to Eight infantry brigades of two infantry regiments, one artillery regiment and one sapper battalion. The rest of the cavalry will be posted in a two regiment brigade, one motorcycle battalion (regiment) and many cavalry regiments will be transformed to AA battalions, number unknown at this time.
