Sevastopol Sentinel - 9 July 1930

5th Submarine Flotilla has been tasked to support French operations in the Mediterranian Sea and Gulf of Aden. Of the 10 submarines of 5th Flotilla, 2 will be assigned to Tangiers, and two will be assigned to Djibuti. It is intended to rotate submarines and crews to these locations every 4 months, to give the personnel of 5th and 6th Flotillas of Black Sea Fleet experience operating and receiving logistical support in these waters with our French allies, giving each a better understanding of the other's capabilities and requirements.

In a reassignment of cruiser squadrons to take account of Pallada class cruisers undergoing reconstruction, 4th Cruiser Squadron (Admiral Lazarev Class) has been reassigned from Northern Fleet to Black Sea Fleet. This reassignment is especially popular with crews of 152mm hull casemates who will no longer have icy North Cape waters splashing through their gun ports at speed.
