Player infos
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Folks,

I´d like to know a few things, some background information.

How old are you?

Where do you come from?

What is your job?

I´m a 28 year old student (Technical University of Darmstadt), currently working for my diploma thesis, and living in a small town right between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden (Germany of course).

Just curious...

I'm a 31 year old geologist, working for the Canadian government in a town called Iqaluit on Baffin Island. Look just west of Greenland and there I am...

Iqaluit ? It looks like it is in the middle of nowhere. I got familiy in Edmonton so when I go there, we usually fly over that area. When you look down, there is absolutely nothing. Some places in Canada are truly empty...

I'm 28. I work at a flower export company as a (as it is mentioned on the company's website) chilled store assistant. I live in a town called Rynsburg, which is some 15 km NE from The Hague and about 35km SE from Amsterdam. (Meaning I live in Holland)

Walter.

Me during the day:
5:30 (when I need to start working)
8:45 (When they screw up again)
12:00 (When I throw someone into the dumpster)
14:00 (When I nearly get overrun by the forklift truck )
16:15 (When I hear we'll continue till 17:30 )
21:00 (When I'm working late)

Actually, the Road to Nowhere extends 3 km from the town north to a sand pit in a valley; so more accurately, that would be the middle of nowhere.

You're pretty much there in the Northeast. Might be a stupid question, but have you ever visited the western part of Canada ?

Acutally, I lived just north of Edmonton (near St. Albert, if that rings a bell) for sixteen years, and in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, for another three.

Yes, that does ring a bell. I haven't been in that part as far as I know. Mostly stayed in Edmonton itself when not in the Rocky Mountains.

43 year old military historian/analyst, ground combat stuff mostly. This navy stuff is interesting though. I got turned on to it a couple years ago re-reading Liddell-Harts "History of the First World War". I had skimmed his Jutland chapter before, but when I read it closely for the first time I was awestruck by those German BCs.

Further research made me even more awestruck by Jellicoe's timing and touch in his decision to deploy into line of battle, at a time when he could see nothing and his scouts were telling him little.

I actually was born in Toronto and lived in northern Ontario till I was 19 and then I moved to Vancouver and I've loved it! Ironically enough I've moved to a city that was actually visited by my favorite WW2 ship, the Hood. I've seen a relly nice picture of her in a pub on the north shore.

I'm a 53 year old ex-sailor and "currently between positions" warehouseman/driver. I spend most winters driving skiers from the airport at Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, to the 7 nearby resorts in the surrounding mountains, mostly Park City. This year the business is rather poor, but last year's Olympics were lucrative.

I spend my spare time (when I'm not playing music or bombing around on my motorcycle) working on my own WWI Naval wargame or doing artwork for my friend's Airware games.

What kind of naval wargame do you have in mind? A tabletop game?

Do you have experience with similar games? If so, which one?

26 year old spaniard here...I'm currently studying a 3-year career on network systems, and I already have a 3-year title in general physics (not sure how to say that in english ;)). When I finish this I'll try to get into AENA to be an air controller. We'll see if they get me or not, as I already was rejected 2 years ago.

Why I'm interested in warships?...well you could say I'm very interested in almost any aspect of XX-century warfare (especially of the 1900-1945 period), but warships and aircraft have always been very appealing for me.

I've got bad eyesight on one of my eyes, that's the only reason I'm not currently a comercial or air force pilot, as I was rejected on both medical exams.

Mise (Irish for me!)

I'm a 36 year retail management slave from and living in Dublin, Ireland.
My main interests/hobbies are Sci-Fi (any media), radio controlled models (mostly Aircraft and Ships), RPG's ,and just recently, SCA.
Lord Arpad pointed out the SIM and SpringSharp to me and that, as they say, was that!

I am a student, a part time fencing coach(and a legally qualified stuntman) and a media junkie. I have always been interested in aeroplanes but ships are relatively new to me. Hobbies are making models, drawing, fencing, and some other sports.

Since mine was in another thread...

I'm 23, a bit of a gardener (at least when the heat/humidity doesn't threaten to boil me alive), and I've lived in Florida my entire life.

My naval orientation probably comes from the fact that both my grandpa and one of my uncles were in the Silent Service. I've always been interested in ships and, to a lesser degree, aircraft.

One of my pet projects is a modern battlecruiser combining a Kirov-type hull - stretched - with Ticonderoga superstructure and electronics. I first traced this design about 8 or so years ago, and a few months ago I morphed up some .GIFs of the various configurations:
http://www.swamphen.net/misc/whatif/moz-navy.htm

And these ships have become part of one of my other Alt-History projects, the Principality of Mozambique.

Well I lived in a small town up north, did alot of fishing and watched the grain boats as they came in. Even saw one, one year, get wedged completly sideways, due to her length, in a grain elevator berth due to a bad wind storm when she broke a line and swung sideways blocking berth for months. I also had a freind who's father worked on the grain boats at one time and he showed me quite a few interesting pictures, like the bow of a grainboat after it collided with a lock gate.
