BT 21.06.21: TENSE SITUATION IN NORDMARK CAPITAL

BT is Berlingske Tidenede, a newspaper in Copenhagen, Denmark.

TENSE SITUATION IN NORDMARK CAPITAL
In a telegram received this morning from our correspondent in Stockholm, Mr Holger Torbenssen, he described the tense situation that has suddenly developed in the capital of our neighbour nation. Since yesterday, machine-gun nests have been emplaced at street-corners, the streets are being patrolled by mounted troops in field-dress as well as machinegun-equipped motorcars equipped with armourplate. Overhead can be seen large numbers of aeroplanes on continuous patrol in the air above the city - at any time at least 20 aeroplanes can be seen, but at times the numbers are much greater. Lat last evening a squadron of cruisers stationed in Stockholm harbour was seen to leave the harbour at a breakneck speed, causing at least two civilian passenger vessels to have to beach themselves to avoid being run down - the cruisers were using warning-shots to clear their way. All parts of government have been closed down, and are under armed guard. The Stockholm newspapers are being published with a large number of articles whited out, a clear indication of censorship being introduced. Most notably the wellknown paper Marinkuriren came out will everything but the advertisements whited out. There is a very tense mood in the city, with the citizens being quite bewildered as to what is going on.
