AWNR: Japan.
December 8, 1920

- Japanese Delegation whole again at Cleito.
- Japanese Fleet leaves As Salif area.
- Japan Sightseeing Tip: Kujuu-jo, downfall of the Ichimonji family.

- Japanese Delegation whole again at Cleito.

The missing members of the Japanese Delegation rejoined the Shogun today. Nakamura Shoda and his sister Nakamura Maeko arrived this morning by plane at Cleito Airfield after having vanished for more than a month. The two were accompanied by seven other people including their brother Jodai and their sisters Mieko and Kameko. Of the other four men, one was recognized as Yagyu Minoru, Daimyo of the Yagyu clan. He is known to be one of Japan’s most feared killers. The other three men are probably part of Minoru’s group and they are believed to be there to ensure the safety of the Empress.
The other member of the Japanese Delegation, Oonishi Manzo, landed at Cleito Airfield about 3 hours later where he attempted to ask for the direction to Coldmere. Before he could take off again he was stopped and dragged out of his plane by Yagyu Minoru and his men.
Word from the embassy has it that the Shogun has temporarily grounded Oonishi until the treaty is actually signed. After that, he’ll be off to attempt and find his way to Coldmere once more.

- Japanese Fleet leaves As Salif area.

The Japanese warships along the North Yemen coast are on their way back to Japan. The Fuso and an escort group are on their way back to Atlantis for a rendezvous with the Shogun’s delegation after which the ships will move on to Coldmere. Nagato continued on her rather unusual shakedown cruise, accompanied by several escort vessels. It is believed that it headed back into the Indian Ocean.

- Japan Sightseeing Tip: Kujuu-jo, downfall of the Ichimonji family.

About 37 kilometers southwest of Oita (in the Bungo prefecture, Kyushu) lie the ruins of Kujuu castle, or the First Castle. Some 350 years ago, this castle was home to the powerful warlord Ichimonji Hidetora. The tragic legend of the downfall of the Ichimonji family, together with the legend of Minamoto Yoshitsune, is one of the most popular Kabuki plays in Japan. The castle was destroyed by the attack of the forces of lord Ayabe. Later Kato Kiyomasa rebuilt Kujuu castle about 500 meters from the site of the original castle.
Inside the new castle is a vast amount of documentation about both the old and new castle. Objects on display include the bloodstained o-yoroi worn by Hidetora’s olderst son, Ichimonji Taro Takatora, when he was shot and killed during the siege of the Third Castle at Shiiba and the bloodstained katana of General Kurogane which he used to decapitate the treacherous Lady Kaede.
The entrance fee to the castle ruins includes entrance to the newer Kujuu castle. Prizes range from 1200 yen for children to 2400 yen for adults (about 10 – 21 US dollars).

End Report

OOC: Okay ! For those poor souls who are actually interested in this ‘Legend of the Ichimonji family’, go to www.umich.edu/~iinet/cjs/films/reviews/ran.html and blofeld.qbranch.se/~maal01/ran.htm to get some idea. Also, I couldn’t find where the Ichimonji lands were supposed to be in the movie. Only that part of it was shot in the mount Aso area on Kyushu. So I kept the Ichimonji castles in that area. The first castle at Kujuu (movie: Himeji castle), the second castle at Kumamoto (movie: Kumamoto castle) and the third castle at Shiiba (movie: built on the slopes of mount Fuji).

Maybe a good idea to keep him grounded, otherwise we maybe would have seen some more "incidents"...eh.... accidents.

At least everyone can go to bed safely now without having to worry about Manzo crashing into their bedroom.

The Japanese Government is not taking any chances when the Empress is involved (actually there was only one plane available. Either it would have gone to Japan or to Atlantis. In the end the decision was made to go to Atlantis.)
