Organization of the fleet

How will most people here break down their fleet? In other words how many ships will be in your battleship squadron or destroyer flotilla? The U.S. seemed to have 18 destroyers in their flotillas with Omaha cruisers acting as flotilla leaders.

Organization

When browsing through the SAE infrastructure as of 311220 you can see how the RSAN is organized.

In generall:

Two BBs form a division.
Several BB-divisions (two in general) for a Battle Squadron.

Same for the BCs and cruisers (Scout and Cruiser Squadrons).

Things are slightly different for smaller combatants (MS, subs or TBs for example).

Four TBs/MS form a division.
Up to four divisions plus a tender or cruiser as flagship form a flotilla.

The Navy Academy Squadron is an examption having not enough ships for a complex organization.

Some of my squadrons are below standards due to the lack of hulls.

Normally a suqadron or flotilla is based at a single port but some are slit between several bases.

Hope this helps,

Organization

Russian battleships/battlecruisers are organized in Battle Squadrons of 2 two-ship divisions, all of the same class. The division of a Battle Squadron on independent missions is not envisioned in the Fighting Instructions of the Russian Federation Navy.

There are two types of Cruiser Squadron, the 3-ship squadron for the Admiral Makarov and Palladia classes, and the squadron of 2 two-ship divisions. Cruisers are handled with greater flexibility, and can be divided for independent missions.

The Destroyer Flotilla consists of a Flotilla Leader (a small cruiser), and 3 four-ship Destroyer Divisions.

Submarines are organized into 10-boat flotillas.

Corvette Flotillas have 10 Corvettes each, and Motor Torpedo Boat Squadrons have 20 boats each.

The battleships of the French Fleet are being reorganized into 3 two-ship Battle Divisions, one each in the Mediterranian, Atlantic, and Pacific Fleets. The Battle Division is also an indivisible unit.

French heavy cruisers will also be organized into two-ship divisions, one in each of the above fleets.

French light cruiisers are organized into squadrons of 2 two-ship divisions, but are capable of operating independently.

French Destroyer Flotillas of old destroyers consist of 3 four-ship divisions. New destroyers are organized in 3 three-ship divisions.

French fleet submarines are organized into five-boat flotillas, and coastal submarines are in ten-boat flotillas, as are French corvettes and motor torpedo boats.

Germany, bound to 6 battleships, 12 cruisers, and 24 destroyers, will be operating in squadrons of 3 (BB/CL) or 6 (DD). I will be attempting to use similar designations to historical units when I have the chance to do so.

India doesn't have the numbers necessary to create formal squadrons or other formations. Ships are assigned to one of four Maritime Districts (West, Central, South, East) as required.
