Russian battleships/battlecruisers are organized in Battle Squadrons of 2 two-ship divisions, all of the same class. The division of a Battle Squadron on independent missions is not envisioned in the Fighting Instructions of the Russian Federation Navy.
There are two types of Cruiser Squadron, the 3-ship squadron for the Admiral Makarov and Palladia classes, and the squadron of 2 two-ship divisions. Cruisers are handled with greater flexibility, and can be divided for independent missions.
The Destroyer Flotilla consists of a Flotilla Leader (a small cruiser), and 3 four-ship Destroyer Divisions.
Submarines are organized into 10-boat flotillas.
Corvette Flotillas have 10 Corvettes each, and Motor Torpedo Boat Squadrons have 20 boats each.
The battleships of the French Fleet are being reorganized into 3 two-ship Battle Divisions, one each in the Mediterranian, Atlantic, and Pacific Fleets. The Battle Division is also an indivisible unit.
French heavy cruisers will also be organized into two-ship divisions, one in each of the above fleets.
French light cruiisers are organized into squadrons of 2 two-ship divisions, but are capable of operating independently.
French Destroyer Flotillas of old destroyers consist of 3 four-ship divisions. New destroyers are organized in 3 three-ship divisions.
French fleet submarines are organized into five-boat flotillas, and coastal submarines are in ten-boat flotillas, as are French corvettes and motor torpedo boats.
