Paris: Annals of the Marine Nationale - 11/1/21

Today, at Brest and Marseilles, the new French aircraft carriers Normandie and Languedoc finished their conversion from battleships and raised steam for their shakedown cruises. Each carries an aviation wing of 40, divided into a squadron of 16 fighters and two squadrons of 12 torpedo bombers. These ships represent a qualitatively new capability for the Marine Nationale, with their mobility and range of striking power.
