Former Black Sea Fleet Chief of Logistics sentenced!
Former Chief of Rear Services for the Russian Federation Black Sea Fleet, Captain First Rank Stepan Vasilievich Korienchuk, has been found guilty of treason and sentenced to a term of life imprisonment in a Siberian penal camp. Earlier rumors of former Captain Korienchuk's involvement in financing activities of Bessarabian separatists have proven well-founded. However, suprisingly, no involvement on part of Romanian government was found. It seems that Romanian intelligence services are fully occupied with Hungarian irredentists in Transylvania and Bulgarian irredentists in South Dobruja. IMRO terrorists in latter province are particular headache for Romanian government, leaving Romanian authorities no time or energy for making trouble for Russian authorities in Bessarabia.
Involvement of foreign intelligence services was found however. Surveillance prior to Korienchuk's arrest discovered a British subject of unascertainable background transporting currency and propaganda materials from Riga to Odessa under protection of his diplomatic passport. He has been expelled from Russian Federation, and another Border Guards Regiment has been assigned to Western Military District with assignment to thoroughly check persons, baggage, and shipments from Latvia. Ports of Tallinn, Parnu, and Petrograd expect increases in traffic as a result.
