RfP Light/Escort Carrier

The Persian Navy is looking into the possibility of acquiring a carrier. The following specifications are desirable:

Cost: not more than 9,000 tons
Max Speed: at least 30 kts
Capable of carrying at least 30 single engined aircraft

Carriers are becoming the ultimate WW status symbol. Everybody's got to have one or two or twelve, regardless of whether or not it'll actually work in their fleet's strategy. I think a Persian carrier will be the best way for Persia to waste their tonnage in the fastest possible way. Hence why I dismissed any notion of a Bulgarian CVL. No need, and I'm not going to waste my budget.

U.S.S. Wolverine would not be a very usefull carrier, unless the Persians plan to use the ship as the Americans did, as a breif landing point for land aircraft.

Turkey's neighbour has carriers, yet Turkey doesn't, she feels she doesn't need them. I have to agree that theres no real need for Persia to have one either given the fact that land based aircraft can easily cover the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

It would be interesting to see it take on a typhoon or two!!

Useful, but not ideal, for the purpose for which they were created, a real "niche" design.
