The Sviatoslav class rebuild replace her 210mm quad turrets with triple 234mm turrets, as in the original pre-Cleito Treaty design. They also recieved a new bow, hull bulges, increased deck armor, replacement of 100mm casemate mounts with 100mm twin deck mounts with hoists, air search radar, surface search radar, new engines, and increased fuel bunkerage.

Edit: Added names of the Admiral Senyavin class

This oughta liven things up...

It will be noticed that the Soyuz Nerushimy class battleships bear a remarkable resemblance to the Admiral Makarov class Armored cruisers.

THe new BBs range is excessive - why?

4

Wednesday, May 30th 2007, 1:41am

Likely to be able to transit the arctic sea without refueling, though I must admit her bunkerage seems high. The historical Yamato shiped 6300 tons of fuel, while the Iowa's shiped 7,621 tons.

Or to decrease size....

Why a transome stern on a 28kn unit?

Why a transome stern on a 28kn unit?

So it can be confused for a Makarov at a distance....

At what range can a specific stern be identified?

8

Wednesday, May 30th 2007, 1:56am

It would depend on the aspect angle

It might also be evident from aerial recon.

The Makarovs have a large transom stern, so it would be a distinguishing feature from a good distance

On range and Bunkerage. It would seem others are high as well, particularily when you look at historical Yamato and Iowa classes. When compaired to the historical Bismarck class the feild gets narrowed even further. I've left out British, American and Canadian designs as they all have bunkerage around the 4,000 ton mark or even less.

I knew I was forgeting something!

I didn't include the Iberian La Luna class as shes a smaller BC, as well as other BC's and older BB's.

I will say this regarding the huge range of the Soyuz Nerushimy... It seriously hurts the design. Originally, the Okuni had a range of +11,000nm at 18 knots. It's now 10,000nm at 15 knots. By altering the design so I ended up with the same light displacement as before, I gained almost 0.10 hull strength. And that is a lot.

True

I gain significant armor, but lose significant stability, compartmentation, and resistance to damage.
