Thanks all,
We had a public memorial for Jere. He was just one of those folks that have a big impact on those around him, and spent 45 years pouring time into this town.
I don't know the headcount- no one does. We had 1300 chairs set up in the field, and they were ~2/3rds filled, then there seemed to be ~800 in the stadium, so I'm guessing 1500-1800 people showed up.
4 log trucks, one from each company, at the gate. He was a Captain on the Korean DMZ, so the VFW gave a 21 gun salute, piper played Amazing Grace, assembled Fire Services marched. Our congressman presented a flag flown over the Capitol, the mayor of Otsuchi Japan- our sister town wiped out in the Tsunami, then eating and mixing afterwards.
All and all pretty good memorial.

I'll be slowly working back into things in the next couple weeks. We're still confined to the office, as the guy is still running around our woods and has been linked to another murder about 3 weeks before Jere's.
However, being confined to the office typing tends to not make me want to come home and type.
