Dagbladet Politiken 30th September 1923

Political News.

In an announcement today during question time, Prime-Minister Niels Thomasius Neergaard, announced the date of the general election to calls of "about time!" from the opposition back benches. In his statement to the chamber, the PM defended his government's increases in the defence budget. "These increases are necessary for the renewal of the fleet and it's expansion to deal with the increased duties it now finds itself facing."

The leader of the opposition, Carl Theodor Zahle, stated that if his party was elected to power, his cabinet would suspend the Navy's budget and redirect the funds for other uses. When asked to elaborate Mr.Zahle refused to comment.

The date for the election is April 20th 1924.
