I'd this idea to develop a "port service boat squadron" equipped with utility boats and harbor patrol craft. The boats would be set up to move sailors and equipment between anchored warships and the shore, as well as patrolling restricted waters around anchored naval vessels.
Bateau de Service 8.6m (8.6m Utility Boat)
Displacement: 6 tonnes
Length: 8.6 m (28.2 ft) overall
Beam: 3.35 m (11 ft)
Draught: 0.85 m (2.8 ft) full load
Machinery: 1 V6 diesel engine, 165cv, driving one shaft
Speed: 16 knots
Range: 190km (118 miles)
Crew: 2 men
Capacity: 20 men or cargo
Bateau de Service 12.2m (12.2m Utility Boat)
Displacement: 10 tonnes
Length: 12.2 m (40 ft) overall
Beam: 3.5 m (11.5 ft)
Draught: 1 m (3.25 ft) full load
Machinery: 1 V6 diesel engine, 225cv, driving one shaft
Speed: 12 knots
Range: 338km (210 miles)
Crew: 3 men
Capacity: 3,300 kg (7,275lb) or 40 men
Bateau de Service 20m (20m Utility Boat)
Displacement: 30 tonnes
Length: 20 m (65.6 ft) overall
Beam: 5.2 m (17 ft)
Draught: 1.2 m (4 ft) full load
Machinery: 2 V6 diesel engines, 400cv, driving two shafts
Speed: 18 knots
Range: 780km (298 miles)
Crew: 6 men
Capacity: 4500 kg (9,900lb) cargo or 60 men
Patrouilleur de Port 15m (15m Harbor Patrol Boat)
Displacement: 17 tonnes
Length: 15 m (49.2 ft) overall
Beam: 3.8 m (12.4 ft)
Draught: 1.2 m (4 ft) full load
Machinery: 2 V6 diesel engines, 300cv, driving two shafts
Speed: 17.5 knots
Range: 338km (210 miles)
Crew: 4 men
Armamant: 1 x 6.5mm MG
This was how I envisioned a deployment of these craft in a "Port Service Boat Squadron". These would be deployed at major naval bases (primarily, those bases that have heavy cruisers, carriers, or battleships).
