RM Francesco Morosini

- 130mm/50 guns in new design mounts allowing RoF to be increased to about 10rpm.

- 65mm/64 semi-automatic guns in single mounts with 20rpm RoF.

- The usual 37mm/54 AA guns. 60/90/120 rpm RoF.

- New aircraft, 24x Fiat CR.20 and 48x Fiat BR.2, both navalised and thus with slightly lower performance.

- Two hangars. Upper hangar is open and unarmoured. Lower hangar is closed, and armoured with a 100mm thick belt at the side. Deck armour is roof of lower hangar, thus forming a 100mm thick armoured box. Lower hangar used for bombing up and fueling. Upper hangar used for maintainance, warming up engines, and storage.

- Hull has been lengthend in accordance with reconstruction rules. No bulges fitted. Differing freeboard and draft.

- New 140,000shp powerplant instead of old 130,000shp plant. Speed is much the same.

- Vastly increased bunkerage.

I scroled down the posts and caught a glimpse of the Veinticinco de Mayo. First thought was: "What a neat and modern looking ship!" (as in latter part of the 20th century). Second thought was: "Nah, doesn't look that modern as I initially thought." I think this was caused by the funnel and the bow.

7

Thursday, January 20th 2005, 8:03pm

Well shes identical to the historical Vienticinco De Mayo which was laid down in 1927 so the only difference is that shes laid down two years earlier. Given the Nordish/Argentinian war I'm sure argentina is looking to recoup her loses.

Thursday, January 20th 2005, 9:31pm

Veintincinco de Mayo is more or less as historical as I could get her.

VdM looks great!

I'm sure the Nordish and South Africans are thrilled... :-P

Q1 Fil MAS

The Philippines transfers 500t to Italy this quarter for 10 x MAS da 38m type fast torpedo boats.

With this, 30 of the 40 boat on order have been constructed and delivered. The final 10 boats are scheduled for construction in Q2.

Oh yeah...Chile is just as thrilled.

Given the relations in that part of South America someones bound to be ticked at someone who in turn is ticked off at someone else.

Atlantis is not too concerned, Argentinia has ruined its possition internationally (if we are to believe they indeed murdered Nordish royalty).

Turkey loves Italy and the SAE, they are my main weapons suppliers at the present moment.

It wouldn't suprize me one bit that Argentinia after getting a beating from Nordmark and having a non CT signatory coveting some of their territory wouldn't want to strengthen their fleet.

Unfortunately we don't know the extent of the national mood in Argentinia because we don't know the full impact of the Nordish/Argentinian war. For all we know Argentinia could have lost a third of its original territory to Nordmark. Are they nationalist or isolationist?

I doubt that Nordmark or SAE will even notice.

Just that the Argies are rearming... ;-)

16

Perhaps they plan on scraping all other cruisers to maintain a smaller force of 2 new cruisers?

And what will they do with two small cruisers? Go for the Chilenians (or whatever you call them)? God bless them... ;o)

18

Friday, January 21st 2005, 7:57pm

They would be the Chileans, and I doubt the Argentinians would have a go with Chile with just 2 light cruisers.

"In this corner, we have the Argentineans, with 12 190mm guns.

"In the other corner, we have the Chileans, with 20 340mm guns!"

*ding, ding*

Kablooie!

Well, Veinticinco de Mayo can cream the vast majority of Chilean ships. Shes also 10knts faster than those pesky Battleships.
