16. Russian Land Aviation

Russian land air forces are organized into two services:

The PVO (Air Defense Forces )

The VVS (Military Air Force )

The PVO organization includes interceptors, air defense artillery, and early warning capabilities, to provide an integrated air defense of the Russian federation.

The VVS organization includes fighter aircraft for battlefield air superiority and bomber escort, observation aircraft, strike aircraft (generally obsolescent fighters at this point ), and bombers.

Both forces are organized as follows:
