Greek - Special Trials Frigate

Greece has rebuilt an Akhilleus class Frigate, F-1 Akhilleus as a special trials ship for training with new armament and fitted new boilers with a higher working pressure. The ship will be classed as a Training Destroyer.

The Akhilleus is one of forty Type E series ships built for the Greek navy in the late 1920's including Frigates, Gunboats, Seaplane tenders and Minelayers built on a common hull. Two of the Akhilleus class, Europa and Narcissus were completed as destroyers Smeul and Sborul for the Romanian Navy.

Very nice drawing Roger, though the 40mm and .50 cal weapons layout doesn't quite match the SS file.

Thanks Wes, and I'm still getting the hang of the latest SS so I'm stuffing up the AA armament.

Looks pretty good.

Historically, weapons testing ships tended to be larger (HMS Iron Duke) but our rules make that uneconomical.

Thanks RA. I've tried going for more detail in small ship drawings.

The guns are already in service but this will give experience on a twin turret forward for Destroyers and also test new boilers. A bit like the Russian "Opytniy". The classification of 'Training destroyer' is for CT consumption.

Cheers,
