South American Naval News: September 1932

July 4, 1932

With winter in season fighting has reduced in some places. However Chilean forces have made a stab at retaking Antofagasta from the Bolivians. The offensive was short lived due to the presence of Bolivian artillery.

July 14, 1932

The Armored Cruiser Capitan Tylor took onboard Mr. Tochiro Oyama to attemd the conference at Cowes over the Cleito Treaty. Chile not being a part of the treaty, Mr. Oyama is going as the only government official that has any real interest in the treaty. He said he would attempt to diplomatically invoke change in the document in an effort to make the treaty better and then perhaps Chile will join as a equal. Odds makers in Santiago place a 30 - 1 he'll fail.

July 17, 1932

Chilean Naval Air units have destroyed a Bolivian column heading to reinforce their army in Antofagasta.

July 19, 1932

Chilean Army of Atacama again attempted to retake Antofagasta. The army has been stalled by heavy artillery twenty-three miles from the city.

July 28, 1932

The Army of the North and the Army of Coquimbo have successfully cut Bolivian supply line near the Bolivian border. With the aid of the black planes from Iquique, the Bolivian Army has been cut off from the rest of Bolivia.

August 6, 1932

The Bolivian Army has retreated part of their force fifty miles from Antofagasta to reestablish their supply line. Chilean Air Force bombers have hounded their retreat for the last two days.

August 7, 1932

Several new destroyers were laid down today in a move to replace the aging British and Nordmark built ships from before the Great War.

August 9, 1932

Bolivian Air Force planes have jumped several Chilean bomber and cleared the skies over the Army of Bolivia.

August 17, 1932

With the winter starting to hit hard, air operations have ended for a time. Artillery fire between sidse throughout the Antofagasta Province is common.

August 26, 1932

A envoy has left on a mission to the United States onboard the light cruiser Atacama. No word as to what the mission is about, though rumors of gaining support from the United States against the invading Bolivians has been rumored.

September 6, 1932

The Bolivian Army has attempted another frontal assault towards the Army of the North. The Chilean forces have side-stepped the Bolivians three times in the last seven days.

September 11, 1932

With news that the dread Iberian Armored Cruiser El Cid to be coming to Peru, work has picked up on finishing the new Armored Cruiser Capitan Oyama in an effort to counter this move by the Iberians.

September 14, 1932

The Bolivian Army is relentlessly chasing the Army of the North all over the countryside. Having spent the last two weeks trying to do frontal assaults and the Army of the North flanking the Bolivians seems to have weakened the Bolivian Army.

September 29, 1932

The Bolivian Army has let the Army of the North sideslip them once more. Linking up with the Army of Coquimbo near the Bolivian Border the combined army is now in a position to hold the Bolivian Army.

September 30, 1932

Chilean Army of Atacama has begun to move on Antofagasta again.
