General Pueyrredon Major Refit

Rather than wasting money on a reconstruction this modest refit has been undertaken.
The changes are; replacment of 6in casemated guns with twin 130mm guns with a limited heavy AA capability, a new AA outfit with twin 37mm above main turrets and superstructure ends, a modified enclosed bridge and new conning tower, new main and end belt armour and an upper belt protecting the 130mm hoists. A new boat crane and mast will be fitted along with two new LA rangefinders and one HA rangfinder. New RT equipment is to be fitted and two 18in searchlights. In a training role some 80 cadets will be carried. The egnines will be overhauled but no replacement will be undertaken. Coal will still fuel these ships to save oil for the newer vessels in the fleet. All internal fittings will be repalced or modernised including new galleys and refitted officers cabins. The Captain's cabin will be extended and refurbished.

Have you ever tried drawing your creatures?

I'd like to draw them, but it would be a long-term projectand my previous attempts are not that good. If anyone is offering thier artistic services and has the spare time I could supply a quick sketch.
Pueyrredon should look like the small sketch as featured in the 1946 Janes.
I'd like to clarify one point, does altering to oil-burning count as a 50% partial reconstruction? The rules state change in plant or output but does not mention fuel.

I think that considering the number of ships in the 1920s that were converted to oil and didn't have new turbines that it should count as a part of the 25% major refit.

What about this?

2.2.2.4 Level 4: Partial Reconstruction (cost = 50%)

-Changes to bunkerage (type or quantity): P

I'd agree that a reconstruction isn't worthwhile. Retaining the coal-fired powerplant isn't a bad idea either, if you've got better access to coal than oil.

Here you go HoOmAn a cut a paste special to represent the refitted Gen Pueyrredon. I've changed the secondaries, AA armament and bridge. The belts have been altered too.

Thanks for posting. Any chance for a bigger pic?

*Looks through binoculars*
Yes... It's pretty hard to see...
:-)
Still, it gives a good idea how it looks like and it gives me a good opportunity to compare this scale picture with the 1:8 scale picture I did of Japan's near-future fast battleship HIJMS Kamatari.
^_^

I know it Your going for a Iowa type ship not Yamato...wait japan building a ship that is only 5000t over the treaty limit?!? Now that will be a shame :)

Where you expecting anything less than devious from the Japanese of the era?

Your refits will be nice, though small compared to Chile's newer Heavy Cruisers and Armored Cruisers.

Actually, HIJMS Kamatari is not an Iowa type ship... think of it as a 33 knot Scharnhorst class ship with an additional 283mm triple turret.
... and no, it is not over the treaty limit.
... and yes, I will be going for a Yamato class Battleship. A 33 knot one.

Indeed! Canis's Website gives me a lot of bad ideas. :-)

I only need to find out what size dock I need in order to build the Muteki Nippon...
I think it was either a type 7 or 8...

Future flagship of the Armada de Filipinas..

Filipino naval engineers have decided to "cut out the middleman" in warship production and simply produce explosions.

Note to self: Delete IJN page before Walter gets any more bright ideas...or plan to build Montana's like there's no tomorrow!

Unfortunately for you, I already saved all that stuff so even if you delete the page, I still have the ideas.

"What's that tearing sound?"

"Every government in Wesworld ripping up its copy of the Cleito Treaty..."

Looks like Canis just going to have to build Montana's like there's no tomorrow. With a wholesale scrapping campaign, he might not even run out states to name them after...

Then again, there is Kearsarge, so maybe the max is 51...

19

Tuesday, June 13th 2006, 7:55pm

Wouldn't the max be 49 at this time, with Alaska and Hawaii not being states yet?

Here is a bigger pic, sorry I got the last one too small.

Muteki Nippon is my dream battleship. Massive, expensive and totally useless but enough to scare the pants off any foe!
