The Roland class light cruisers will soon be completed, and the Marine Nationale has announced the areas of their deployment.
MN Roland and Tours will form 1st Light Cruiser Division, and will be deployed to the Indian Ocean flotilla, replacing the two old Gloire class armored cruisers Gloire and Conde. These ships will proceed to French Polynesia, where their guns will be incorporated into the local coast artillery, prior to the hulls being scrapped at Saigon, Indochina.
The remaining four of the Roland class will form the Second Cruiser Squadron, and will be based at Tunis.
In further news, 6th Corvette Flotilla, comprising 10 Seine class corvettes, will join 5th Corvette Flotilla of the same class in the Atlantic Fleet, with their home port at Cayenne, French Guiana. 2nd Corvette Flotilla, comprising 12
Loire class corvettes, presently at Cayenne, will be transferred to the West Africa Station, home port Abidjan.
2nd Minelayer Flotilla, comprising 10
Noumea class mine warfare ships will join the Mediterranian Fleet, with their home port at Marseilles.
