Possible topweight problems caused by the superfiring 127mm guns. Cleveland-layout or superfiring over B and Y turrets?

General lack of deckspace with large battery of torpedoes and light guns. I had to get really inventive with the Saint-I class for fitting everything in.

I'm thinking Cleveland layout but you're right - it's a tight fit, try doing this with a Fiji but I have no aircraft facilities. I was toying with the idea of putting 2 quad TT banks on a cut down stern with reloading in the hull just forward of them.

Cheers,

Armor's kinda odd...

Why is the barbette thicker than the turret face?

I don't like shells penetrating ammunition spaces - I guess I'm funny that way ; )

And turrets aren't ammunition spaces...

?

I guess a shell in the turret could cause an explosion that could rip the roof off. A shell in a magazine could cause an explosion that would blow the sides out - and the roof.

If one forgets about the 4x3 152mm guns she seems like an 8000 ton heavy cruiser with all that armor.

With the prospect of Ulic Ali reis or Yavuz on the prowl one could see the need for more heavily armored cruisers for Greece.

This looks like a raider mefinks....

A raider in the Aegean or Adriatic? Places where you are hardly ever out of sight of land and in one of the world's busiest waterways? I don't think so. Really shes more of an up-engined Athinai-class escort cruiser.

How about the Ionian sea or the Med. proper? What makes you think Greece is limited to striking Turkish ships?

Good spot RA, these ships are designed for operations in the Eatsern Med basin but Red Sea, Black Sea or Western Med are all possible.

Raiding? I think Greece would be hard pressed maintaining an open link to the world through Suez than to waste ships on raiding.

They are on the slow side Hoo but I think they are adequate (just) for carrier escort. I have aimed to have them quite survivable.

Cheers,
