Cayenne Pepper - 4 September 1925

Yet another raid, this time of a large beef cattle ranch, has the authorities of the Colonial Administration reduced to such desperation that they have called upon the assistance of the Marine Nationale. While the outrages occur too far from the sea to permit naval gunfire to be effective, they have occured well within range of patrol and strike aircraft. In response to this request for assistance, the Marine Nationale has sent the Aircraft Carrier Normandie, of the Atlantic Fleet, to maintain aerial patrols of the area. A spokesman for the Navy remarked "This operation is eagerly accepted by the navy, for the opportunity it provides to work out proceedures for conducting operations of naval aviation in cooperation with ground forces. We have also inquired of our allies Atlantis and Russia if they would be interested in this opportunity to exercise the as yet unused capabilities of their Carrier Aviation arm."

Cominique to from Atlantian CinC-At to French defence secratary: "We can emidiately offer assistance in the form of the CV ANS Arrogant along with her escorts. If the French government needs any additional military assets Atlantis is more than willing to lend a hand.

We can not tolerate this kind of behaviour from Bandits, should no action be taken it would send the wrong message, that this type of behaviour is acceptable which it most certainly is not.

Atlantian inteligence will also send a seperate comunique detailing the possible links with other groups linked to past incidents in Musaeus(Venezuela)"

The Italian government deplores the heavy-handed actions a France and Atlantis. Going after petty thieves with aircraft carriers? Whatever next? Maybe they'll be turning hermits out of their caves with 15" gunfire?

The Bakufu think that the Italian Government have a point regarding the "heavy-handed actions," but they do believe that strong actions should be taken against these Brigands. Like people often say: "The only good Brigand is a dead one!"
However these actions should be smart and strong ones and not useless and dumb ones.
The Indian and Filipino actions against SALSA had the advantage that the SALSA forces would have limited movements due to the islands that make up the Sulu Archipelago.
However the French and their Atlantean allies do not have such an advantage. These brigands can cross the lands withouth being detected and while the aircraft of the French and Atlanteans thow all their bombs at suspected brigand bases in the border region between French Guiana and Brazil, they'll be laughing down south in Tierra del Fuego.
What the French and the Atlanteans need are specialized forces that can be rapidly transported though the air by airship to the location where the brigands are reported, not big guns that won't be able to reach the various inland areas or planes that cannot see what they bomb and/or strafe.
Japan would be willing to send some "experts" to the region to help out. However the problem is that these particular "experts" are paid 'per head' and some of them might end up killing innocent people in the region just to get lots of money.
