History of the Philippines

Couldn't find anything other than what was proposed when it was suggested they might be a Danish colony, so I decided to cook up my own.

As historical, up to the end of the Spanish(Iberian)-American War...

1901: Plebscite held, U.S. commonwealth vs. independence. Filipinos vote 72% for independence.

1902: Emilio Aguinaldo elected Presidente. Filipino Navy formed. Two London-class battleships purchased from England; two cruisers ordered from US, to modified California design.

1905: First indiginous Filipino ship design, "D-1" destroyer type, built.

1906: Miguel Malvar elected as Presidente. Capitan Enrique Monastario elected vice-Presidente.

1910: Malvar re-elected for third term.

1911: Malvar dies under suspicious circumstances. Monastario becomes Presidente.

1914+: Philippines declares strict neutrality in Great War. (Prior to the conflict, the European country the Philippines was closest to was Austria-Hungary, primarily because they had no colonies. ;) )

1915: Monastario re-elected as Presidente

1915: First of four Palawan-class light cruisers laid down.

1917: Palawan completed. 3 x 9.4" gun arrangement proves unsatisfactory; remaining units delayed.

1919: Palawan rebuilt with 3 x 2 6" turrets.

Nope; didn't find much else of him either.

Of course, that's probably to be expected when a 12" naval gun goes off as you're standing in front of it.
