Hard Drive Disposal

Don't know if anyone's interested,

But one friend had 10 hard drives to dispose of, wanted to make sure the data wasn't recoverable.

Another friend is a Lt. Colonel who used to command Engineers, now I think he has an Inf Battalion.. anyhow.

So it's a fairly long video of a stack of 10 hard drives and what happens when one applies a M3A1 shaped charge to them.

Well, that's one solution to the problem. I'd more likely have gone for thermite, but then I don't have access to shaped charges. Or, there actually are industrial shredders for this job. Yes, shredders that can shred hard drives.

I personally prefer a more mechanical approach.

Sledge Hammers, hydraulic presses, picks as long as it can exert a lot of force.

Thermite is always good. Brianiac had a good go at destroying an armoured safe with a 120mm APFSDS round that was pretty impressive.

Anything inside the safe survive though?!
