MK Evening: 11.07.21 - Editorial

This appears in the July 11th Evening Edition of Marin-Kuriren, on page 2.

Yesterday evening, the harbours of Kristiansand, Bergen, and Stavanger were packed with ships of all sizes and shapes; thousands of uniformed men and thousands of tons of equipment, artillery, mortars, machine-guns, tens of thousands of artilleryshells, hundreds of thousands of rifle-rounds - all being loaded onto the ships waiting under the barrels of the guns of our navy's ships and our coastal fortifications.

What can have gone through the minds of these young men, who go forth to be away for half a year or more, to spend most of the tiem at sea, in often horrible conditions, and to go into combat and death for South Georgia - a set of islands towhich our strongest bond is honour? But such a strong bond the honour of Nordmark is, that they would willingly go to face death! We shall not learn their thoughts - not now, for today the harbour is empty, the men and artillery and ammunition and equipment all gone forth to reclaim justice.

We do not now know how many men have been sent forth by our nation, but we know they are many - yet only a tiny fraction of even one day's battle in the European Front in the war that was - and they go forth with the support of our entire navy, and the blessings of a nation united.

President Gomez of the Republic of Argentina in his arrogance thinks his nation safe from the righteous wrath of our nation. Maybe - just maybe - he would have been right, had his nation limited itself to landing on South Georgia - but Argentina did not.

Argentina, take heed! An ye take not heed of this warning, yet shall ye have occasion to heed the truth of it: Justice is coming, and will not be refused!
