Decisions have been made on what to do with the guns removed from the scrapped battleship Prinz Regent Luitpold. 8 of the 15cm/45 guns will be mounted in turrets similar to those on the KMs large destroyers of the Erich Koellner class and installed at Memel, on the land recently purchased there. The new shore battery will be supported by 8.8cm AA guns that can also, if necessary, provide additional fire against motor torpedo boats and other smaller vessels. The remaining 6 guns will be mounted in similar turrets and installed at the new KM base at Stralsund. The 30.5cm twin turrets and their guns will be installed at Koenigsburg (2 turrets), where they will reinforce the existing defences, and at Stralsund (3 turrets), where they and the 15cm turrets will comprise the defences. "The Baltic is quiet, and we expect it to remain so in the future", said Grand Admiral Raeder when asked about these plans. "But our expectations do not necessarily reflect what actually will happen, so this disposition of the older weapons seemed the best use of them."
