The development of the Kampuchean Army proceeds apace. Analysis of recent exercises of the Kampuchean Division have indicated that this organization is suited to operations under Kampuchean geographic, climatic, and vegetation conditions and considering possible threats to Kampuchea's prospective independence and territorial integrity.
Considering this progress, the higher-level organization of the Kampuchean Army has been taken under consideration. Preliminary analysis indicates that a Corps of 3 Divisions will provide the most suitable organization for Kampuchea's Army. These Divisions will operate with considerable independence, given that Kampuchea's extensive forest cover both complicates communication and gives advantages to independent operations of dispersed forces.
Eventually, standing forces will consist of an Army of two Corps, with critical leadership and staff positions having an additional Deputy. This will permit the rapid organization of new units of mobilized reserves if required.
