Muhammad Jamalul Kiram II ibni Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Azam, the Sultan of Sulu, today stated that he has no connection to the anarchist group calling itself SALSA, and that he hopes that a 'peaceful resolution to their dispute with the legitimate government of the Philippines' can be achieved.
He also expressed hope that his claim on Sabah, currently part of the British Empire, can be addressed in the not-too-distant future...

Filipino governmental officials will be traveling to Taipei, Formosa next week. It is reported that the governments of Chosen and Formosa wish to join the SATSUMA Treaty.

It was announced today that the Kingdoms of Chosen and Formosa, which already had very close ties to the Japanese Empire, have signed the SATSUMA Treaty.
Reports are that the two countries have full member status, with the exception that they cannot block arms deals by the original signatories.

The first proof test of the new Arsenal de Manila 155mm naval gun was conducted yesterday. The test was going well until, on the eighth shell fired, the breech of the gun failed spectaculary. The problem was quickly identified and testing should resume shortly.

Muhammad Jamalul Kiram II ibni Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Azam, the Sultan of Sulu, today offered to mediate the dispute between "SALSA" and the Filipino Government; however, there are strings attached.
"I am willing to do this," said the Sultan, "but only on the condition that my family's claim to Sabah, currently under British occupation, is given due consideration."
Officials at the British Embassy refused to comment on the Sultan's comments.

The Marina de Filipinas today annouced that they have signed a deal with the Italians for the supply of 40 MAS da 38m torpedo boats.
The boats will be equipped with the Arsenal de Manila 100mm/52 and 25mm cannons; the next cargo run carrying material for the oiler Bambú (the last for that ship), which departs next week, will carry the guns.
The boats will be constructed and delivered at the rate of 10 per quarter, starting with the third quarter of this year.
