Today Atlantis began the task of rebuilding its cancelled Vengeance class battlecruisers into carriers as per the treaty of Cleito. The final design was picked after some considerable reveiw based on the performance of the existing experimental carriers in the fleet. The Vengeance has been in the fleet for a few months now and her sister the Glory is currently on builders trials but the Arrogant and the fearless have sat on the slips at Cleito and Eridanus for some time while the treaty of Cleito was being negotiated. The original builders (as expected),Comus shipyards in Eridanus and Empire naval yard in Cleito have been awarded the contracts. The ships will be rearmoured and part of the hulls structure extended to support a continous flightdeck. The bow will have a separate flying off deck, and the ships will also have a small structure to starboard. The ships boiler gasses will be expelled from a funnel attached to this structure. The structure called an Island will also include the bridge, directors for the armament and a flight directions position. A large elevator aft moves aircraft from two hangars and a small deck on the stern used to load up the ships planes. Eight of the ships fifteen 5.5" secondary guns will be mounted on either side of the ship and eight 3" AA guns will also be mounted. The ships aircraft complement has yet to be determined as several designs are being reviewed as well as foreign designs.
