These are for defence in Argentina and are based; Santiago del Estero, Cordoba, Tucuman, Bahia Blanca, San Juan, Mendoza, Neuquen, Rawson, Puerto Santa Cruz, Salta, Resistencia, and Santa Fe. These are HQs and batteries are deployed in various towns/airfields. The Army field AA is used for battlefield cover. By 1933 it is hoped each regiment will have 24x75mm and 24x37mm, the extra 37mm then going to the Army.

General de Aero Melchor Escola
1912 passed through Flying School, 1921 commanded South Georgia Air Detachment, 1926 left FAA and joined Aeravias Argentinas S.A., became director in 1933, 1935 appointed Senor Alfredo D’Assi’s assistant as Vice-Director of Civil Aeronautics. Promoted to General de Aero February 1936 and took over as Director of Air Training.

General de Aero Pedro Zann
1912 passed through Flying School, 1918 entered Officer School, 1921 commanded Aerea Regimenta No.1, 1925 commanded Northern Group, 1930 appointed Commander Northern Area Airfields, 1935 appointed head of Commando Paraguay and promoted March 1936 because of his war record. In January 1937 he became Inspector General of Equipment. In March 1938 he became the Commander of the FAA.

General de Aero Saturno Perez Ferreyra 1912 passed through Flying School, 1918 commanded Aerea Regimenta No.2, 1925 commander Grupo No.2, 1927 Deputy to FAA CoS, 1930 head of Flight Testing, 1934 Inspector General of Bombers and Ground Attack aircraft.

General de Aero Florencio D’Parravicini 1916 passed through Flying School, commanded Grupo No.1 1921-25, 1925 joined Ministry of Transport as FAA liaison officer, 1927 assistant to Minister of Transport, 1931 Inspector of Airbases, 1933 lost job during D’Silva scandal and placed on retired list, 1935 recalled as Technical Officer Training and Transport. In early 1939 he became Inspector General of Equipment and was promoted to General in early 1940.

General de Aero Martin Pico 1915 passed through Flying School, 1918 commander Regimenta No.1, 1921 Operations Officer South Georgia Air Detachment, 1923 Operations Officer Northern Group, 1927 Air Staff Operations Officer, 1930 Commander Aerea Regimenta No.3, 1931 Inspector General of Equipment, 1934 Assistant to CinC. In 1940 he was appointed commander of Aerea Brigada I with the rank of General de Aero.

General Cillion 1927 passed Flying School, trained as fighter pilot but converted to ground attack, special interest in dive-bombing and has been on a course in the USA in 1932. Flew throughout the war as a TNCA A-1 Mapache pilot commanding a flight and later a Grupo before taking command of Aerea Regimenta No.9 in 1937 and rose to rank of Lieutenant General early 1938. In 1940 he was appointed to command Aerea Brigada II and was promoted to Major General de Aero.

General de Aero Edelmiro J. Farrell
1919 passed through Flying School, 1923 completed staff course and then commanded Southern Group and he began an improvised anti-shipping warfare training unit in 1927 but it closed in 1929 when he was appointed to command Aerea Regimenta No.3. In 1931 he became Assistant to the Director of Air Training and in 1933 was seconded to the Airfield Construction Board. Promoted Lieutenant General in 1936 he then became air attaché to Brazil before becoming Assistant to the CinC in late 1939 with the rank of General.

General de Aero Humberto Sosa Molina
1920 passed Flying School and was a bomber pilot and in 1928 commanded the Bomber Regimenta No.1 and in 1932 Aerea Regimenta No.5. During the War he served on the Air Staff as a planner and in 1934 was promoted Lieutenant General and was the assistant to the Director of Air Training (Education) and then held this post in 1938. Promoted General in 1939 he was appointed to command Aerea Brigada III in 1940.

Lieutenant General Enrique Torres, 1915 passed through Flying School, 1923-28 service in Aviacion Naval, 1929 rejoined FAA as bomber pilot, 1933 wounded in accident, 1935 Assistant Director-General of Naval Aviation and retired in early 1940.

Lieutenant General Enrique Molina 1915 passed through Flying School, 1921 commander Regimenta No.2, 1926 joined FMA, 1933 rejoined FAA in the Instituto Aerotechico, 1935 head of procurement under Lt. Gen. Oton Mantovant. In March 1936 he took command of Aerea Regimenta No 5 as a full FAA officer. Rose to rank of Lieutenant General early 1938.

Lieutenant General Victoriano Martinez de Algeria, 1916 passed through Flying School, 1921 commanded the Northern Area Group, 1923 reduced in rank due to disciplinary action, 1926 reduced in rank to Flight Capitan due to disciplinary action and posted to Aerea Regimenta No.2, commanded this formation from 1928 and by 1930 was promoted to command Aerea Regimenta No.1, 1934 commander of Aerea Regimenta No.6. In January 1936 after scoring his fifth aerial kill he was promoted to current rank and given command of Aerea Regimenta No 11 on the death of the commander there. In 1936 when his command was stood down he took command of the new Aerea Regimenta No 12 which was previously Commando Paraguay and comprised the best war-experienced aircrews of the FAA. It was a command that suited his insubordinate nature. Rose to rank of Lieutenant General early 1938.

Lieutenant General de Aero Garcia Fernandez
Started life as an airline pilot and only in 1926, when he was chief pilot of Aerolineas Argentina, did he join the Air Force as a bomber pilot He became a chief instructor in 1930 and was promoted to Major General in 1931 and he ran the Mercedes Air Base training detachment. In 1936 he commanded Commando Paraguay as a Staff Officer, largely because of his pre-war contacts in the country, and was promoted again. In 1940 he left this post and has joined the Directorate of Air Training and there re-wrote the training syllabus.

Lieutenant General Horacio Vasquez 1916 passed through Flying School, 1918-26 holds a series of commands of almost all FAA formations, 1927 head of Bombing School until it’s disbanding in 1929, 1929 command of Aerea Regimenta No.3, 1935 head of Bomber Tactical School. In 1940 he was given command of Regimenta No.9 and promoted to Lieutenant General.

Lieutenant General Oton Mantovant 1916 passed through Flying School, entered Instituto Aerotechico on its formation in 1925, 1927 Director of Material and Supplies, 1932 Air Attaché to Atlantis, 1934 Inspector General of Equipment and in January 1936 was appointed to command the School of Military Aviation and its flying unit. In 1940 he became the commander of Area Brigada IV responsible for all military flying training activities in Argentina and was promoted.

Lieutenant General de Aero L. Francesco 1926 passed through Flying School, specialised as a multi-engined pilot but retrained on fighters 1931, undertook Officer training courses 1932-34 and had two tours of duty on the Central Staff, during the war he led one of Aerea Regimienta No.2’s Grupos and took brief command of the Regimienta for two months shortly after the war. After a further posting to the staff in early 1937 he was promoted and given command of Aerea Regimienta No.2. In early 1938 he took command of Aerea Regimienta No.4, a bomber unit. In 1940 he was promoted to Lieutenant General and took charge of the Commando de Institutos Aeronautica (Command of Air Training).

Lieutenant General de Aero Juan Ignacio San Martin
Passed flying school in 1925 and became a leading pilot making five record-breaking altitude flights and he crossed the Andes ten times in 1929. He underwent Staff training in 1931 and during the War commanded a Grupo of Vanquish bombers and in 1937 was promoted to Major General and became an air force adviser to IMPA for the Vanquish III programme. In early 1940 he was appointed to command the Tactical Bomber School and was promoted.

Major General de Aero P. M. Stallone 1923 passed through Flying School, 1927 took command of 2nd Fighter Squadron and in 1932 took command of Aerea Regimenta No 2. Owing to successful war record and personal flying successes he was promoted in January 1936 and in May took command of the Fighter Tactical School. In 1939 he was promoted to Lieutenant General and undertook a three-month staff course while retaining his command.

Major General Elisendo Pissano 1913 passed through Flying School, 1920 studied aeronautics in America, 1925 became chief test pilot, 1933 head of Instituto Aerotechico, 1935 Operations Officer Commando Paraguay, 1936 became Inspector General of Equipment. He became head of the Technical School in March 1939.

Major General Agustin Verona 1913 passed through Flying School, wounded 1921 and appointed Commander of the Commando de Institutos Aeronautica, 1931 briefly commanded Technical School, 1932 Fighter Tactical Instructor, 1935 commander of FMA Test Facility Cordoba, 1936 Operations Officer Cordoba Area but post war he was appointed as Liaison Officer with the Navy. In early 1938 took command of Aerea Regimenta No 2.

Major General Luis Candelaria 1916 passed through Flying School, 1920 sent to Italy for training, 1923 passed through Staff College, 1926 assistant to CoS, 1931 requested return to flying duties, 1935 commander Aerea Regimenta No.7. In 1940 he took command of the Escula Regimenta.

Major General Benjamin Matienzo 1916 passed through Flying School, 1921 war became the first Argentine ace in South Georgia, 1923 commander of Aerea Regimenta No.1, 1927 commander Grupo No.1, 1930 studied aeronautics in the USA, 1932 head of Requirements Board, 1935 formed the new Fighter Tactical School, mid 1936 took command of Aerea Regimenta No 6.

Major General George Smith 1923 passed through Flying School, in 1932 rose to rank of Capitan de Aero and took command of a Group of Vanquish bombers serving during the war with distinction and taking command of Aerea Regimienta No.4 in 1936 and in 1938 took command of Aerea Regimienta No.8 when the latter’s commander was killed in an air crash.

Major General de Aero R. Burrquitos 1925 passed through Flying School as bomber pilot, retrained as fighter pilot in 1930 and took command of Aerea Regimenta No.1 in 1931 and promoted February 1936 owing to war record. He was given command of Aerea Regimienta No.4 in early 1940 and undertook a six-week staff course.

Major General Juan Biedma, younger brother of Major General Baldomero Biedma, 1927 passed flying school, specialised in bomber and commanded his first squadron by 1930, during the war he was the Operations Officer for Aerea Regimienta No.4 beofre moving to command a squadron in Aerea Regimenta No 5 and setting up two new reconnaissance courses during 1937. In late 1937 he took command of Aerea Regimienta No.3 from his brother when the latter retired from active service.

Major General de Aero Alfredo Miguel Paladino
1927 passed through flying school, three tours as instructor at the Flying School and then served in four different bomber Grupo and he flew 76 missions during the war. Promoted in 1939 he has taken command of Aerea Regimenta No.7

Major General de Aero Juan Ramirez Diego
1928 passed through flying school, fighter pilot 1930-37 including war service in Aerea Regimenta No 1 with 6 confirmed ‘kills’, he commanded No2 Grupo 1937-39 and in late 1940 was promoted to Major General and given command of Aerea Regimenta No 1. He completed a staff course during 1938.

National Defence Programme
Each Aerea Brigada is a territorial headquarters unit designed to undertake all quartermaster and strategic planning within its area and undertake control of all air defence efforts within its boundary. They also control the Navy’s aircraft to co-operate with FAA units fully for maritime units. The Navy retains tactical control of its own units but there is a liaison unit with each Brigada HQ. Aerea Brigada IV is responsible for all aircrew training.

Order of Battle
Each Regimenta has three Grupo each with 24 aircraft for a total of 72 aircraft. Each Grupo divided into two twelve-aircraft squadrons which break down further into three four aircraft flights.
E.g., Area Regimenta No1 has Area Grupo 1, 2 and 3, each squadron will be 1/1-1/2 for Grupo 1 and 2/1-2/2 for Grupo 2 etc, flights in a Grupo are designated A to I e.g. 1/1A or 3/2F.

These are for defence in Argentina and are based; Santiago del Estero, Cordoba, Tucuman, Bahia Blanca, San Juan, Mendoza, Neuquen, Rawson, Puerto Santa Cruz, Salta, Resistencia, and Santa Fe. These are HQs and batteries are deployed in various towns/airfields. The Army field AA is used for battlefield cover.

1942 Re-organisation
All Aerea Regimenta Naval (except No1 which serves carrier fleet requirements) will be composed of three Grupo; one fighter, one bomber and one dive/torpedo bomber. Each Grupo will have two squadrons of 12 aircraft each given a Grupo total of 24 and a Regimenta total of 72 (identical to the previous total). “Bahia Blanca” Regimenta Naval will be disbanded and its fighters shared between the three other Regimenta and the last of the current I-01-II Buchons will be handed back to the Air Force.

National Defence Programme
Each Aerea Brigada is a territorial headquarters unit designed to undertake all quartermaster and strategic planning within its area and undertake control of all air defence efforts within its boundary. They also control the Navy’s aircraft to co-operate with FAA units fully for maritime units. The Navy retains tactical control of its own units but there is a liaison unit with each Brigada HQ. Aerea Brigada IV is responsible for all aircrew training.

Order of Battle
Each Regimenta has three Grupo each with 24 aircraft for a total of 72 aircraft. Each Grupo divided into two twelve-aircraft squadrons which break down further into three four aircraft flights.
E.g., Area Regimenta No1 has Area Grupo 1, 2 and 3, each squadron will be 1/1-1/2 for Grupo 1 and 2/1-2/2 for Grupo 2 etc, flights in a Grupo are designated A to I e.g. 1/1A or 3/2F.

National Defence Programme
Each Aerea Brigada is a territorial headquarters unit designed to undertake all quartermaster and strategic planning within its area and undertake control of all air defence efforts within its boundary. They also control the Navys aircraft to co-operate with FAA units fully for maritime units. The Navy retains tactical control of its own units but there is a liaison unit with each Brigada HQ. Aerea Brigada IV is responsible for all aircrew training.

Order of Battle
Each Regimenta has three Grupo each with 24 aircraft for a total of 72 aircraft. Each Grupo divided into two twelve-aircraft squadrons which break down further into three four aircraft flights.
E.g., Area Regimenta No1 has Area Grupo 1, 2 and 3, each squadron will be 1/1-1/2 for Grupo 1 and 2/1-2/2 for Grupo 2 etc, flights in a Grupo are designated A to I e.g. 1/1A or 3/2F.

These are HQs and batteries are deployed in various towns/airfields. The Army field AA is used for battlefield cover.

National Defence Programme
Each Aerea Brigada is a territorial headquarters unit designed to undertake all quartermaster and strategic planning within its area and undertake control of all air defence efforts within its boundary. They also control the Navy’s aircraft to co-operate with FAA units fully for maritime units. The Navy retains tactical control of its own units but there is a liaison unit with each Brigada HQ. Aerea Brigada IV is responsible for all aircrew training.

Order of Battle
Each Regimenta has three Grupo each with 24 aircraft for a total of 72 aircraft. Each Grupo divided into two twelve-aircraft squadrons which break down further into three four aircraft flights.
E.g., Area Regimenta No1 has Area Grupo 1, 2 and 3, each squadron will be 1/1-1/2 for Grupo 1 and 2/1-2/2 for Grupo 2 etc, flights in a Grupo are designated A to I e.g. 1/1A or 3/2F.

National Defence Programme
Each Aerea Brigada is a territorial headquarters unit designed to undertake all quartermaster and strategic planning within its area and undertake control of all air defence efforts within its boundary. They also control the Navy’s aircraft to co-operate with FAA units fully for maritime units. The Navy retains tactical control of its own units but there is a liaison unit with each Brigada HQ. Aerea Brigada IV is responsible for all aircrew training.

Order of Battle
Each Regimenta has three Grupo each with 24 aircraft for a total of 72 aircraft. Each Grupo divided into two twelve-aircraft squadrons which break down further into three four aircraft flights.
E.g., Area Regimenta No1 has Area Grupo 1, 2 and 3, each squadron will be 1/1-1/2 for Grupo 1 and 2/1-2/2 for Grupo 2 etc, flights in a Grupo are designated A to I e.g. 1/1A or 3/2F.
Aircraft markings show the Squadron and number within it e.g. 1-04 with the Flight letter on the tail.

Commando de la Defensa Antiaerea
28 Regiments each with 24x37mm guns and 24x75mm guns, all batteries have four guns and are used for defence of various towns and airfields. HQs and Lead batteries are located at; Santiago del Estero, Cordoba, Tucuman, Bahia Blanca, San Juan, Mendoza, Neuquen, Rawson, Puerto Santa Cruz, Salta, Resistencia, and Santa Fe. Army field AA is used for battlefield cover.

Each naval airbase and dockyard is protected by two regiments consisting of 12x75mm 12x37mm and 12x20mm guns. Each battery has three guns. Attached to each two regiments is a company of Marines.

Order of Battle
Each Aérea Brigada is a territorial headquarters unit designed to undertake all quartermaster and strategic planning and control of air defence within its boundary. The Comando de Aviación Naval maintains a liaison unit with each Brigada HQ. Aerea Brigada IV is responsible for all aircrew training and auxiliary support functions.

Each Regimenta is comprised of three Grupo, each Grupo being comprised of two Escuadrilla with 12 aircraft each. Each Escuadrilla is comprised of three Vuleo (4 aircraft each).

Commando de la Defensa Antiaerea
28 Regiments each with 24x 37mm guns and 24x 88mm guns, all batteries have four guns and are used for defence of various towns and airfields. HQs and Lead batteries are located at; Santiago del Estero, Cordoba, Tucuman, Bahia Blanca, San Juan, Mendoza, Neuquen, Rawson, Puerto Santa Cruz, Salta, Resistencia, and Santa Fe. Army field AA is used for battlefield cover.

Each naval airbase and dockyard is protected by two regiments consisting of 12x 75mm, 12x 37mm and 12x 20mm guns. Each battery has three guns. Attached to each two regiments is a company of Marines.
