For the next year she will undergo a thorough rebuild to modernise every aspect of her design and to make her equal with the latest aircraft carriers around the world. It is assumed her sister will begin a similar refit in 1951, but funding has not yet been secured.

The Compania Argentina de Marinanavegacion Rividavia has been declared bankrupt. Facing profitability problems for several years and with accidents having claimed two-thirds of the fleet of twelve FMA I.Ae.4 Courier mail planes, the owners have finally bowed to pressure and closed the firm. Aeroposta Argentina S.A. has cancelled all its remaining contracts with the company. The aging carrier postal ship is likely to be sold for scrap.

Beneath the fuselage the FMA engineers had fitted a streamlined winged body containing a rocket engine and propellant tanks. The rocket was ignited and ran for twenty seconds. The primary aim of the project is to research fuel types and performances and guidance systems for a future air-to-ground missile. The first batch of test flights are designed to test the reliability of the engine before drop tests are carried out next year.

President Juan Ramon Mugnolo today arrived in Buenos Aries for a three-day long State visit. This marks the first time an Argentine President has visited Grand Urugauy since the war nearly 15 years ago. Political commentators have seen this as further evidence of the thaw in relations over the past few years.
Politically the main parties are now starting to look ahead to next year's election and are beginning to jostle for votes. With the frail Conservative-National Democratic coalition with its slender majority of two deputies has largely pursued a safe course but has not really satisfied anyone on either side of the political spectrum, its uneasy 'path of least resistance' policy had meant the nation has rather coasted along. There is certain to be heavy campaigning next year.
