The Compania Argentina de Marinanavegacion Rividavia has been declared bankrupt. The company was founded on 1 January 1937 and financed the building of a civilian aircraft carrier used for postal and fast freight courier services to Africa and Atlantis. Facing profitability problems for several years and with accidents having claimed two-thirds of the fleet of twelve FMA I.Ae.4 Courier mail planes, the owners have finally bowed to pressure and closed the firm. Aeroposta Argentina S.A. has cancelled all its remaining contracts with the company. The aging carrier postal ship is likely to be sold for scrap.

An I.Ae.28 B-02 Calquin bomber left the FMA airfield at Cordoba this morning and made the first flight of Projecto Tábano (Project Gadfly). The primary aim of the project is to research fuel types and performances and guidance systems for a future air-to-ground missile. The first batch of test flights are designed to test the reliability of the engine before drop tests are carried out next year.

President Juan Ramon Mugnolo today arrived in Buenos Aries for a three-day long State visit. This marks the first time an Argentine President has visited Grand Urugauy since the war nearly 15 years ago. Political commentators have seen this as further evidence of the thaw in relations over the past few years.
Politically the main parties are now starting to look ahead to next year's election and are beginning to jostle for votes. With the frail Conservative-National Democratic coalition with its slender majority of two deputies has largely pursued a safe course but has not really satisfied anyone on either side of the political spectrum, its uneasy 'path of least resistance' policy had meant the nation has rather coasted along. There is certain to be heavy campaigning next year.
