The Dutch Navy relies mainly on small scouting carriers with only two slightly larger strike carriers. In 1948 its proposed to lay down two further strike carriers to boost numbers of aircraft at sea.
The ultimate plan would be to have four of these in the DEI supported by four scouting CVs with the screening forces and the rest of the smaller CVs in Home waters or perhaps off Africa.
The CVS-8 is a development of the CVS-5 but with some improvements but similar design ethos and airgroup.
