As part of the massive purchasing mission to the United States in 1942, the M4A1 Sherman tank was purchased to become the backbone of the Exército Imperial's armored divisions. The Exército opted to purchase the model that was standard to the US Army at the time in order to ensure delivery in a timely manor.
