The Bharati Nau Sena is currently satisfied with its infrastructure for large ship construction and upkeep. The expansion of the drydock at Mumbai will provide for two large docks, one of which will see sporadic use for future aircraft carrier construction.
The story for smaller slips and docks is less satisfactory. The growth of destroyers, in particular, suggests that one or two of the large crop of Type 1 slips will be expanded to Type 1.5 during the latter part of the 1940s. Expansion of one or two drydocks will, for the same reason, be necessary. Once these core needs are addressed, it is anticipated that some effort will be made to add additional small docks for upkeep and repair purposes.
