The scores for the first match of Europe are now done! I'm feeling too lazy to actually write the games up, so if someone wants to detail their own games?

There was one surprise where the dice gave the Netherlands an astonishing nine out of ten "coin flips". So... the Dutch ferociously buried the Nordish team. The Irish and Turks also got high rolls (8 out of 10) and so they ended up with some high scores.

Group A:
Denmark vs. Wales: Wales beats Denmark, 1-0
Iberia vs. Poland: Iberia beats Poland, 4-2

Group B:
Russia vs. Romania: Romania beats Russia, 3-1
Netherlands vs. Nordmark: Dutch beat Nordmark, 5-1

Group C:
Ireland vs. Switzerland: Irish beat Swiss, 5-3
Turkey vs. Czechoslovakia: Turks beat Czechs, 3-0

Group D
Luxembourg vs. Coldmere: Luxembourg...ers beat Coldmerians, 1-0
Belgium vs. Scotland: Belgians beat Scots, 3-1

Group E
Greece vs. Bulgaria: Greeks beat Bulgarians, 2-0
Yugoslavia vs. England: English beat Yugoslavs, 2-1

Group F
Germany vs. Hungary: Tied game, 1-1
Lithuania vs. Latvia: Lithuanians beat Latvians, 3-2

Am I keeping the European games against members of the same group, or will they play outside the groups?

124

Monday, February 2nd 2009, 10:26pm

No they play in their same groups. Three games totals.

I know. Is brutal. Group B got three decent teams while Group F looks a walk thru the park for Germany.

Considering that Hungary was one of the best teams in the 30´s I doubt it

And now we have another problem.

The way the goal differences lined up, Group A has Denmark qualifying, while Iberia and Wales are tied in games won, points won, and point difference.

--------------------------

Denmark:
vs. Iberia: 2 points for win, 2 point difference
vs. Wales: 0 points for loss, -1 point difference
vs. Poland: 2 points for win, 2 point difference
4 points, 3 point difference

Iberia:
vs. Denmark: 0 points for loss, -2 points difference
vs. Wales: 2 points for win, 1 point difference
vs. Poland: 2 points for win, 2 point difference
4 points, 1 point difference

Wales:
vs. Iberia: 0 points for loss, -1 goal difference
vs. Denmark: 2 points for win, 1 goal difference
vs. Poland: 2 points for win, 1 goal difference
4 points, 1 point difference

--------------------------

Romania and Nordmark also had to be decided...

Romania:
vs. Russia: 2 points for winning, 2 goal difference
vs. Nordmark: 1 point for tie, 0 goal difference
vs. Dutch: 0 points for loss, -3 goal difference
-1 aggregate

Nordmark:
vs. Netherlands: 0 points for loss, -4 goal difference
vs. Russia: 2 points for win, 2 goal difference
vs. Romania: 1 point for tie, 0 goal difference
-2 aggregate

--------------------------

Those chosen:
Denmark
Netherlands
Romania
Ireland
Turkey
Luxembourg
Belgium
Greece
England
Germany
Hungary

Status uncertain:
Iberia
Wales

Greece and Ireland are both undefeated. Bulgaria, Poland, and Latvia didn't win or tie a single game.

I'm not sure, but....

...does the fact that Iberia beat Wales within the group stage not mean that Iberia goes through?

Ooh sweet! Looks like the two teams that won, won both their games played. Kongo had a rough go and the SAE got upset by Camerun.
