March 30th 1936 Bharat's Foreign office sends the following message:

"We ask both our good friends the Persian nation and their Azeri neighbors to show some restrain for the sake of peace on the region. We also applaud the Russian Republic's attempt to mediate this situation and we ask both parties to accept the Russians mediation, or any nation considered amicable to both nations, in this dispute before it gets out of hand."

"...funds have being finally allocated for the construction of one and possibly two Satyakis in 1937 with more projected for the future... resources will be limited with the Delhis and the Satyakis both being build during the same time period... some projects could fall behind projected schedules..."

Germany continues to shake it's head on India's insistence on building predreadnought white elephants (the Satyakis) that appear to be a terrible use of scarce resources.

India has a treaty limitation which prevents them from building a battleship of over 20,000 tons. The Satyakis are designed to put 15" guns into service, yet be under that tonnage limit, and still have good armor. As a result the Satyaki has 4x15". In the opinion of most of us, the Satyaki is a step backwards for India, though in fairness, it does accomplish their goal of getting 15" guns afloat before 1940.

Again I may not know much about Ship design so I have to ask why have 150 & 125mm guns? Why not a unified 125mm secondary armament?

Actually there was some criticism about that when the design was first revealed...

Atlantis is also amused by the Indians seemingly loosing their sences and building a ship so large, with so few main guns and a secondary battery that doesn't know what role its going to perform.

Then again if I went the paranoid route I'd suspect that the addition of 8x5.9" guns is to reserve tonnage for a post limitations treaty refit that see's them swaped for another 15" turret, but again that would also fall into the "expensive folly" catigory too.

I can see why Australia would be giggling up a storm, it seems their treaty along with the one India signed with Britain has really handcuffed them.

February 18th 1936- Excerpts of Field Marshall Bahadur's report to the War Ministry

"...major units will be departing Asir well before the expected handover to Hedjaz in October...the only Army presence is expected to be the security detachment to the air base but advisor groups to the Hedjaz's armed forces shouldn't be affected by the end of the mandate..."

"...the 10th Field Force will be redeployed to the border with Afghanistan after their arrival from Asir due to increased bandit activity.. seems some tribes are taking advantage of the transitional period in Pakistan to cause trouble..."

"...the exodus of trained officers from the former Pakistani Army is a cause of concern...ways need to be found to bring into the fold the members of the former Pakistani Army..."

"...the Persian Defense Force continue to increase in size and possibly four regimental size units could be in service by the end of the year...

Happens to me often enough. Get busy and just check in to check for PMs. Wind up missing posts, which has led to some surprises "Whaaa... I don't remember that...."

I did see the CDBB thread, but I generally try to avoid posting on SATSUMA concepts, limiting myself to technical aspects. I do understand the idea of designs being throttled by tonnage limitations, but the compromise vessel being viewed as necessary to fill a role(s) despite not being quite what is desired.

I find it an interesting solution to a problem Bahrat perceives, much like my Ijeelsijk class is a solution to problems I perceive but lack the time/resources/infrastructure to properly address.

Excerpts of the monthly BNS meeting April 1936

"...reports state what it seems an increase in the number of ships being deployed by Great Britain in the region for the near future...Australia also seems to be increasing the number of their capital ships...future plans could be curtailed by this moves...at least both nations seem to be abiding to the letter of the treaty..."

April 20th 1936- The BNS announced today thru a short communique that after the two Persian amphibious ships currently being constructed in China are completed the BNS and the Imperial Persian Fleet have agreed to pool their resources in the region into a combined amphibious command.

Due the bulk of the forces being from Bharat the command will be under the leadership of the current commander but his XO will be a Persian officer. The move has being hailed as, and quote the note, "further step into increased cooperation between Bharat and Persia."
