New submarines were required, with a higher underwater than surface speed, quick-di...
I´m not a player but i follow Wesworld with interest, i feel that i have to put in a few thoughts. I-300class is the The Sen Taka (submarine, high speed). Quoted The Sen Taka (submarine, high speed), in high bursts of speed, could run faster submerged than on the surface for up to an hour. The only World War II submarine comparable in underwater speed to the I-201 class was the German Type XXI "Elektro-boote" class. The I-201 class had streamlined all-welded hulls, high capacity 4,192 cell batte...
Very good aircraft pics, i have always been a fan of Soviet and Russian aircraft. These pics are a remainder of how things could have turned out.
Thanks for the tip, i got the first two Destroyermen books today. The history seems intresting.
Spain rebuilt an old cruiser, a half sister to the British C-class, the Mendez Nunez. To an AA cruiser in 1944. This link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blas_de_Lezo_class_cruiser
Marek and Hood you two share the victory!
As you all know SAAB has mostly produced military aircraft. But the company has also produces some airliners, SAAB 340, SAAB 2000. But what was their first try in the airliner buisness? And how many aircraft was produced? And in which country´s did they serve?
It is perhaps the Douglas Dakota with registration EI-AFL, who crashed in 1952. Somwhere in Wales i think. It was either hard wind or turbulence.
Here´s a fast kitbash i did of an Averof partial modernisation. Bow modified as Swedens Manligheten, some boilers repleced with oilfired, the 2 fore funnels trunked together, light guns replaced with 40mm and 20mm anti aircraftguns. Pic by Navarchos, modiefied by me with Navarchos parts. I made this kitbash retaining the orginal guns, im not sure that a twin 9,2 inch(23,4cm) barbette can hold a triple 8 inch(20,3cm) turret. But it can still be a good training ship both for coal stokers and oil s...
Sweden sold them to Denmark, and even delivered some. Most where embargoed with the outbreak of WW2. They served in Sweden until the mid fifties when a small number where exported to the Dominican Republic along with DH Vampire jetfighters and Landsverk L60 light tanks, where they served until the eighties.
As these ships are designed for rivers or maybe close coastal work, perhaps you should add or replace a gun with a howitzer. Most Uk china gunboats had a howitzer and the ex Austrian river monitors in sevice with the balkan states had a 120mm howitzer.
This self propelled artillery was called Stormartillerivagn m/43. Here is a link to it, wit some good pics. It´s only in swedish. But it is in working condition by the P5 community. http://www.foreningenp5.com/sv/fordon/sav_m43/sav_m43.htm
I use crazybrowser as web browser it has an inbuilt translation tool. When im not using that i often use babelfish. I also read English, German and Finnish pretty good.
Very good pics. Thx for the Helle pic, i always liked that ship.
As a nonplayer i have been following this thread. In OTL Sweden had a program for nuclearweapons, it was started in the late forties and followed up to the late sixties. It met a lot of oppositions in the fifties. In about 1968 Sweden could have made a nuclear test. Thats why we have the great missile testfield in the northern part of Sweden. My point is that for a small but hightech nation it takes about 20 years to do it on their own without technical input from other nations. And during these...
Quoted The most beautiful armoured cruiser of all time, one of my favorite ships! I agree, i visited the ship a couple of years ago when me and my wife was on a cruiseship in the waters around Greece, i skipped Akropolis in order to visit an genuine armoured cruiser. How about a picture of another real ship, the light cruiser Helle in the configuration she had in 1939.
Since i have not read "Years of Rice and Salt" i googled it, it sounds intresting. I think Robert Silverberg have written something like it. "Years of Rice and Salt" is now on my must read list.
