Brock is sadly right, in the right conditions (i.e wet with little to no oxygen) steel rusts much more slowly (hence why the Titanic is still fairly solid, when if she was above water, she would have rusted away by now). High grade steel used for warships, as well as the non ferrous metals in items such as guns are highly valuable. The market for military memorabelia is also highly bouyant, especially for warships lost in action as items are always more scarce.
I agree on the Nordhausen ammunition numbers. Average stowage was more like 300-500 rounds per gun in this period (the Gearings had 360 rpg). Even today a type 45 destroyer only carries 800 rounds of 4.5in ammunition. On the other hand, the 3inch guns on the Tiger Class Cruisers had 850 rpg plus ready ammunition (160 rpg), likewise the Mitschers had 1000 rpg.
Hello All! I am indeed semi back. After several very mad and draining years, I have found the time and energy to pop back up here. I am definately not up to running a nation again yet, but will definately be around more again as an observer.
Reading the Coldmere Protocol, Bruce is of course right, it is a non-agression pact and insurance against for instance Britain ganging up on Germany with Japan (assuming Japan fired the first shot), not a full blown mutual aid treaty That said, the British will assume both the best and the worst. The Nords, well nobody knows what they really think.
Not broken, just a mobile browser with an insane habit of logging me out as soon as I leave the main page, something I have now rectified
Grrrr, damm mobile browser. Have now got the whole encyclopedia
Hi all, long time no post. I dropped by to see how things were going, and look at some things, but have found that part of the Europe encylopedia doesn't seem to be visible. For example, i can't find the folders for the Netherlands, the UK or most crucially Nordmark. Regards, Earl822
Sloppyness no. Still finding my feet with Springsharp when I simmed the ship, maybe. More able to estimate height in feet rather than in metres, most definately. I am after all, from good old England, where imperial and metric are interchangeable depending on what you are considering. I did, and still do spend much of my time around structures and machines built and drawn in imperial measurements, and therefore I used what I was comforable with at the time, within the constraints Peng had left m...
Wow, someone screwed up the calculations for that one!
Same here, though for me it was an added suprise to log in to see how things were going and find a PM in my inbox.
Quoted Hmmm... if there would ever be another war between France and Germany, I would think that the German spearhead will be led by lots of those vans in order to send the French soldiers fleeing in sheer terror. großes Grinsen Assumably then the French would lead their counter attack with Citroen 2 CVs
The Nordish-SAE treaty has such a secret text that I suspect neither I or Hoo has ever really got an idea of what it actually says. Chile treaty is here There is also a presently valid treaty with France & Russia. Nordmark is a large and rather brutal beast. It is complex and not a very easy nation to play, as I have now found twice. It is also not a nation that can be played 'on the side', it cannot be done justice without some significant writing, something I was never that good at. I will hap...
When I came back to Wesworld, my life I thought was going to become simpler, and quieter. Oh how wrong I was! Work & Home life have both become considerably more busy since I got married in April. This has unfortunately meant that as you may have noticed I have not been able to make any progress with Nordmark. Sadly my life is unlikely to get any quieter for the forseable future, so must, likely for good, stand down as a player. My apologies for not being able to really get restarted. David/Earl
Finally got around to doing the maths, more than likely got something wrong. Q1:- A) Industry 21 factories (non fixed) producing 21000tons of ship materials. Plus stockpile of 6137tons. 750t from Chile for BC Dristigheten. 12500t from Turkey for Ocean Class CVs. 2 factories (fixed) producing 0.2IP for Q1/1940 B) Infrastructure Development Lievsborg Type 3 Dock #1 building, 0.7IP needed. Karlskrona Type 3 Dock #2 extending 1IP needed, 0.2IP added C) Ship Construction Karlskrona Type 4 Slip #1: Go...
The canadians are a concern, but not one that requires an Iowa sized solution. No intent to copy the Chileans, though will now look it up to see how close I've got.
Erm, unless he has been moved, he is probably still in some bar or casino in Coldmere, thats certainly where I left him.
Fair enough. If he has retired, he has retired.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Playing with a couple of ideas for stories concerning Coldmere in my head, and something came to me: What did happen to Captain Harlock? I know R&R nearly blew up the deathshadow a couple of years back, but what then?
Right, Im BACK! In order to check I am not barking up the wrong tree on any changes to how we design things please feel free to cast your eyes over the big ships from Nordmark for 1940:- RNNS Gam Class, Nordmark Aircraft Carrier laid down 1940 Displacement: 30,000 t light; 31,062 t standard; 34,681 t normal; 37,576 t full load Dimensions: Length (overall / waterline) x beam x draught (normal/deep) (881.59 ft / 820.00 ft) x 98.00 ft x (28.50 / 30.27 ft) (268.71 m / 249.94 m) x 29.87 m x (8.69 / 9...
