Jyllands-Posten April 4th 1924

After 5 months of testing, Rohrbach-Metall-Aeroplan Co. A/S, Copenhagen, have announced that their RO II design is ready to make an attempt on the F.A.I. Speed/Weight record.
This second design from Dipl. Ing. Adolh Rohrbach has already attracted interest from foreign airlines for mail use as well as the Naval Air Service for long range recon. The aircraft has demonstrated a unique ability that dramatically extends its range of operation.

After it’s successful first flight on the 11th of November 1923 with pilot Werner Landmann at the controls, and it’s subsequent flight testing, the RO II will be used for FAI-records in speed/load category on the 24th of October 1924. We are currently in negotiation with the Mitsubishi Shoji Kaisha Ltd, who expect to present it to the Japanese naval aviation for trials.

Members of the Italian aviation community have found slightly different details from another, unnamed source.

Length: 17.2m Height: 5.0m Span: 29.0m Area: 73.4m2

Empty: 3600kg Maximum take off: 6100kg Payload: 1220kg

Max Speed: 175km/h Range: 1300km

Rolls-royce Eagle IX engines giving 335hp each.

Members of the community noted that the new RO II looks very stable and will undoubted give good service. However they were critical of its speed and range.
