Other Notes
---- The Perm-class ice-capable tankers are named Kola and Novaya Zemlya.
---- Two torpedo cruisers, one of the Minsk class and one of the Kiev class, have accidentally shared the name Irkutst. The second vessel, belonging to the Kiev class, is renamed Perekop in order to differentiate between them.
---- Two ships (the aircraft carrier Kazan and the Saratov-class cruiser Kazan) share the same name. I have found reference to a light cruiser named Taganrog which doesn't appear in the encyclopedias but appeared in the order of battle about the same time as Saratov (conversely, the cruiser Kazan doesn't appear there at all). Therefore, I am determining that the Saratov class cruiser known as Kazan and the Taganrog are in fact the same ship.

I'd like to take this opportunity to mention the adjustment of ship numbers in the report's OOB. Basically, I could not account for 126 vessels of various classes. There has been some upward adjustment of numbers when I found older stuff that wasn't accounted for anywhere but the sim report.

Most of the missing vessels were light craft of - probably - under 500t, but I had to add in two dreadnoughts, and remove fourteen light cruisers and twenty-five submarines. Basically, I've searched the archives and concluded that I can find no evidence to demonstrate that these ships exist or what they might be if they did.

Therefore, I say that if I can't find evidence of them, then they no longer exist. I will only revise the numbers if I find a major combatant of 1,500 tons or larger.

That seems an awful lot of adjustment, but given the sporadic run of Russian sim reports - followed by a long hiatus - it is not surprising. It represents a very large chunk of effort on your part, and for which I, for one, will thank you. While I have had to pick up the pieces several times, I have never faced a job so large.

I think your decision on the missing/unaccounted for vessels is the correct one.

I really think the adjustment is probably the result of cumulative errors - ships not moving (or moving multiple times) from a 'building' to 'completed' category. Sometimes, I've found that the numbers are correct, but I really have to dig to find why they're right...
